New Animated Iron Man Series Coming To Disney

The president of Disney Channels Worldwide just let slip that an animated Iron Man series is apparently in development for the Marvel Universe block on Disney XD.

Speaking to THR about a number of topics, Gary Marsh, the president of Disney Channels Worldwide revealed an interesting sliver of info about what's coming down the pipeline on the animated Marvel front.

THR: Because Marvel is now part of Disney, are you looking into more Avengers series?

Marsh: Two months ago, we launched Marvel Universe on Disney XD, which became the exclusive home for new Marvel television content. We've developed Ultimate Spider-Man. Subsequent to the success of the Avengers movie, we've been developing a new Avengers Assemble. We're talking about a Hulk series and an Iron Man series, too. They're going to spend $150 million to $200 million to make these [movie] properties and then half of that to market them; I'm sitting here thinking, "Thank you, Lord, you've made me look good."

It's probably safe to assume that the Hulk series is most likely Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. but so far, this is our first hint at a new Iron Man animated show. This announcement spells the end of Iron Man: Armored Adventures but that's not the least bit shocking as the program airs on Disney rival Nickelodeon and was a deal that was in place prior to the House of Mouse acquiring the House of Ideas.

Here's to hoping that Marvel learned from that Ultimate Spidey misstep and is realizing where Avenger: EMH succeeded

From what i hear, Clone Wars is a good continuation of Star Wars, hopefully Marvel and Disney's merge will be have a similar outcome. Still haven't seen the Avengers cartoon yet, heard that's really good too?

Marvel can't cancel Armored Adventures. It's possible they might be able to make another series or buy the rights back from the current studio that makes AA, but they can't just cancel it because the rights are still owned by Method Films/Method Animation and DQ Entertainment.

Another Iron Man? Who doesn't know who he is? Iron Man: Armoured Adventures did that pretty well. Can't we just get another show that centres around Thor or Cap, maybe even Hawkeye show? With so much love to Iron Man, sometimes you forget the others exist.

But you know what I'd love to see happen, an X-Men television show.

They should do a show about someone else like:

Nova
Heroes For Hire
Daredevil
Guardians of the Galaxy
Inhumans
Thunderbolts
Silver Surfer
Ghost Rider

Come on Marvel, you have one of the biggest catalogues of characters ever.

Nick's best cartoon: The Legend of Korra. No way can Marvel's 5 good cartoon matches up against there one. The stories suck and the animation is ass. Marvel needs to do something dramatically different because there Avatar: The Last Airbender was on for 3 years and was asked to come back for another go round. Meanwhile Marvel cartoons has been tanking for years. FOCUS only on the animation and story. That's it. It has to be great animation and an solid story. People will tune in.

I'm enjoying Armored Adventures, they have run AA and the Anime Iron Man at the same time so why not keep AA and the new Iron man animated. No more shows like Ultimate Spiderman please, even as a kid it would look stupid to me.Avengers EMH is a good show, maybe not at the same level as Justice League, but still very enjoyable.

I'd rather see a Thor or Captain America show. Something different, even X-men. Iron Man seems to be getting too much focus these days.

I'm pretty sure it will suck! Just as childish and lame as Ultimate Spider-man. Tell me about a Iron-Man any Marvel material on HBO, Cartoon Network or even Nicktoons. But Disney XD :P

I've learned my lesson from Ultimate Spider-man, nice try guys Im not falling for that again. PASS!!

@KaneVonDoom I don't think EMH did succeed. If it did they would have kept it. I think EMH was getting it's butt kicked by Young Justice, which is superior in every way. EMH's art is dated, the voice overs are in the range of just OK to poorly cast, and it seems the network is pushing out the episodes and not airing some.

As to the other shows. It's unfortunate but this is what happens to Marvel Properties...they make a show it runs for a season or 2 then they change it. I love the post that shows the old show titles...Spiderman has had like 8 different variations. Hulk has had 4 or 5, Fantastic 4 has had 4, Silver Surfer 2, Avengers 3, Iron Man 3, X-Men one of the longer series 3.

The problem that I see are that the shows are either geared too young or are just too boring.

If they can get the right balance between being child friendly, and yet older fan friendly then they will have some good shows assuming they cane get the writing correct. This is Disney though...so I would expect the shows to lean more towards child friendly and lame.

Awesome. Hopefully Iron Man will be connected to Avengers Assemble and offer a more serious approach unlike Ultimate Spider-man.

@nhalden That's what everyone's problem is! Avengers: EMH DID succeed! It was awesome. You're right about the art and-to an extent- the voices, but the story was super awesome! It had a real plot, including stories from the comics. It introduced awesome characters.
Everyone's problem is with Marvel/Disney. They keep cancelling their good shows. Wolverine and the X-Men: CANCELLED. Spectacular Spider-Man: CANCELLED. And now, Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes: CANCELLED. IT's like they don't want to succeed.
