Flash Thompson As VENOM?

Flash Thompson As VENOM?

Flash Thompson As Venom? The Amazing Spider-Man actor Chris Zylka certainly hopes so. Which version will Sony ultimately go with, any Eddie Brock fans out there?

When asked about whether he is aware that his character is the new Venom in the current Marvel run of comics and that Sony is planning a solo film for the character, the actor responded---
Zylka: "I am. I am aware," was the seemingly hesitant answer. When specifically asked whether or not he's had discussions with Sony about the "Venom" movie, the actor crossed his fingers and gave the cryptic reply, "We'll talk next year."

It's unclear whether he meant he'll talk with Sony next year or if he'll be speaking with MTV again next year about the project which would seemingly be an indication that he has the part. The actor goes on to display some impressive knowledge about the current run of Venom and the comic book counterpart of his film character---
Zylka: "Flash obviously needs no ego boost, but what's nice in the comics now, not the movies, is the fact that he's crippled and the symbiote gives him legs. There's a whole 'Avatar,' James Cameron thing, that feeling of being able to walk again and have legs. That's something that's very interesting in the comics."

Whether this actually pans out is any ones guess, as it would be pretty tough for most comic book fans to accept bypassing Eddie Brock and jumping straight to the Flash Thompson version of the character. Truthfully, the current incarnation of the character is probably the more 'filmable' alternative but purists are purists, I already know which version most of you guys would prefer to see.

You can view Chris Zylka as Flash Thompson on July 3rd in Sony's The Amazing Spider-Man.

Heck i'd love to see Chris as Venom it be fun and as @Denn1s said it would be different to Raimi's Spider-Man Movies.
And it seems this guy knows his Venom knowledge.

I have to check out the run of Venom with Flash as the host but I will admit, I'm not a fan of supporting characters getting powers.

I'd rather them do Eddie Brock right. He's a cooler Venom in my opinion anyway.

Frak Venom, just do the Green Goblin then Doc Octopus again. Don't want another alien creature crap trying to explain itself in another Spider-man movie.

i think they're talking about the spin off venom film that has been rumored instead of a sequel to TASM..

@Emanuel after watching that video i think its pretty safe to say he's gay lol

although i think the current run of venom is a great and unique story i would rather prefer an Eddie Brock done right but also to be honest i wouldn't at all mind seeing the Flash Thompson venom in movie form i think it would be kick ass

Let's just jump straight to Carnage, shall we?

No..I think this "new venom" uses guns cause flash in the comics had background in military or something...that wouldn't work for the sequel of the TASM...but Venom movie with flash as venom....I wouldn't mind if they would do something like that. As for TASM sequel or whatever I would prefer Eddie Brock cause Raimi and Sony destroyed this character and there so much more to him. If they would make him really right it could be the most amazing CBM villain ever...maybe on par with Ledger's Joker.

For Venom film Flash would be ok. I dont really care about that movie anyway.

But Eddie Brock all the way if Venom shows up in TASM sequels. He needs justice.

However i hope Venom doesnt appear in the first two sequels of the new Spidey film. They need to give chance for villains who havent been in the big screen yet.

Shawn Roberts would be cool Brock. He is about same age as Andrew Garfield.

Oh, and, yeah, I think this is a great idea. I don't want to see them do Brock again, even if it's a different version.

special forces venom would be easier to translate to the big screen then the eddie brock version.

@ marvel87

you should read the new venom book is very good.

Apparently Flash didn't get the memo or they would have to change the direction they are going with the Venom spin-off currently being worked on.

"The Amazing Spider-Man producers Avi Arad and Matthew Tolmach have revealed that while there may be connections between that and the Venom spin-off, they won't necessarily share the same world."

NiteSoul69 - 6/29/2012, 8:54 AM
who cares if he is gay or not, lets be a little more adult if we can.

@plasticman- please no, i cant see having carnage without first doing venom.

@Ceejay-to keep from doing "another alien creature crap" they could easily do something similiar to the Ultimate version.

I would perfer the Eddie Brock version of Venom instead of Flash but would be happy as long as he is done well.

This could be amazing. Although Eddie needs to get Venom as well. It could be they both get it, if they make Venom be made in a lab. :)

Eddie Brock is the only venom. Period. I want to see an accurate portrayal of Eddie Brock on film first, then they could do whatever they want after that , I woudlnt care.

@Farkosaurus How is he gay in the first place? There is nothing about him in that video that implies that he's gay.

Ok, guys, seriously, Gay, straight, bi, tri, who gives a shit? Let's see his acting chops before we call it. As for Flash as Venom, that could work a few years from now. Something like Spider-Man meets Universal Soldier, I imagine. Either way, Brock, Flash, Gargan- I just want to see a good Venom story.

I watched the Machinima (sp?) live feed at the ASM premiere, and he seems like a cool guy. I didn't get the feeling that he was all that bright, but cool nonetheless. And, yeah, I think he's gay, or he just talks that way.

"Yeah because we all know gay men never get engaged or even marry women to conceal the truth about their sexuality.

see: Rock Hudson."

I could list a number of others, including one major comic book role, but I have chosen to keep silent on this topic. It is a well-known practice within the Hollywood community for people to get married to keep their homosexuality out of the media and public eye.

That being said, it makes no difference whether someone is gay or not. I just find it funny that people throw out the marriage card to demonstrate that someone is not gay.

Yeah why the [frick] this gay thing is so big thing for everybody? Dont get it?O_o
