Gwyneth Paltrow Armoring Up As RESCUE In An IRON MAN Film?

It's apparently been heavily discussed and very nearly happened in the previous Iron Man films says Jon Favreau and Kevin Feige. Should Rescue join the fight alongside Iron Man and War Machine in Iron Man 3?

With all the Iron Man 3 news emerging this past week, one tidbit that seems to be escaping everyone's notice are the comments from Kevin Feige and Jon Favreau on the possibility of Gwyneth Paltrow donning the 'Rescue' armor in one of Marvel's Iron Man films.

"Everyone at this table thinks it would be the coolest thing in the world to see Pepper get in the suit at some point," said Marvel Studios President, Kevin Feige.

"We almost did it a few times; we talked about it a lot. I think we all share your enthusiasm for that, and we all want to see Gwyneth kick a little ass," said Jon Favreau, director of the first two "Iron Man" films and Happy Hogan actor.

I would be shocked if this happens in Iron Man 3 but I would've been equally shocked if this had occurred in Iron Man 2 and apparently it nearly did . With Rhodey and Tony in their respective suits, is it time that Pepper joined the Armor club?

That's all we need. Another Iron Man in the movie. I'd be interested but I think you'd have to give War Machine the boot.

If handled correctly, this could be cool. I just don't want anything taking away the uniqueness of an armored suit, yanno?

Marvel has the benefit of consistent quality on their side, I trust their judgement.

Maybe in Iron Man 4, there seems to be a lot going on in 3 already without this.

I dont think she should get a full armor, maybe tony could be in trouble and she put just the arm on to blast someone?

Why is this a bad idea? It makes a whole lot of sense.

a) How much of Pepper are you going to see after this movie?

b) Stark's home is destroyed, and the basic assumption is that Tony and (probably) Pepper are going to be hunted down, either by a secret organization like AIM or the Mandarin, or both. When you make virtually invincible armors as a hobby, wouldn't you equip your girlfriend with one when people are trying to kill her?

c) Tony and Pepper played with the notion of Pepper getting more involved with each other - wouldn't it make some sense (taking a cue from the Ultimates) to design a suit for Pepper to wear, probably not really even equipped with weapons (but maybe) to go places? It's like Superman and Lois flying together in the first movie.

I think there is sexism going on. No one complained about the Iron Patriot armor being featured, even though it represents another individual with Stark Tech. Pepper's already established herself as pretty much, the best on-screen love-interest in a Marvel movie - so why can't you guys embrace this step for her?

They've already made a place in the story for the Mandarin and their version of Extremis, this would be all right by me (pretty cool actually, even though Gwyneth Paltrow fills me with rage off-screen).

This is Return of The Jedi guys.

You don't "Wait for the fourth one."

If you're a competent director/writer and you're not doing it because the studio's waving its cock in your face (Spider-Man 3, X-Men 3), you either GO BIG OR GO HOME.

Would be cool and suck at the same time. Just let Tony be Iron Man on his own (with War Machine as a sidekick)... I didnt really like it that Rhodey stole the Mark II suit in IM2 (made me dislike him a bit) and I would've liked it more if it was just Tony in a suit. Takes that unique feeling away when there are more people running around in a suit. After all it's Iron Man and not Iron Men (I know War Machine is in the comics and all, but I never really liked the fact that Tony suddenly teams up with other people wearing a suit).

I don't think she should armour up. Stark and Rhodey should be the only ones.

About "taking away the uniqueness of the character by having someone else wear an 'iron' suit"....

You could say the same about Batman and all the side-kick superheroes he's collected over the years and integrated into the Bat-Family. You could say the same about Spider-man with the symbiote, and especially with the new TASM where the web cartridges and super spiders are actually designed by Oscorp.

It's not like she's going to be some full blown superhero. It would be pretty much the same as loaning your car out to your girlfriend.

naahh not really needed. I mean, I could see it happening with their relationship and all. It would make sense that he would make his woman some armor. But I only think this would take away screen time from War Machine and I would much rather see him. On top of the fact that he is only only other person that I like in the armor.

Just kill her in the next one and make Rebecca Hall the female lead and the love interest. It's not even funny the amount of damage the second one did to this franchise. I completely agree that Tony should be the only man with those suit. War Machine really did take the uniqueness away from Tony when he put on that armour. It's like anyone can become Iron Man. It should be only Tony. Plus you can't say the same thing about Batman and Spider-Man. You can't join the Bat Family unless you have a certain set of skills.

Actually...Rescue doesnt do battle. Her armor doesnt have any offensive weapons, only defensive tactics. The Rescue suit is designed for rescue. Pepper adamantly hates guns and refused to have weapons on her armor.

While Tony is in China dealing with the Mandarin, Rescue will be defending New York from natural disasters or plan wrecks and the stuff. (Hence the name:Rescue)

Just an "Attention to details" moment, but in the described SDCC '12 footage for Iron Man 3, they say during the shitstorm on Stark Mansion, Pepper is caught in the desolation. And then it cuts automatically to Tony suits up and fights the baddies, etc. I'm now contemplating, will Pepper be physically disabled throughout the film, and at the end of Tony's slights, be needing assistance from a certain nanotechnolgic serum? I personally hope to God not, I like Paltrow the way she is, the sart, sophisticated redheaded secretary that's in love with Stark, she doesn't need to be anything more than the latter. But man, Iron Man 3, IT'S GOING TO BE MENTAL!!!
