Deadshot Joins Deathstroke And China White As Villains On CW's ARROW

We've seen the mask of Deathstroke in the teaser trailer and have had official casting announced for China White (Kelly Hu). Now we have news that another DC villain will take on Green Arrow.

The CW has reportedly confirmed that longtime Batman villain and Suicide Squad member, Deadshot will be taking on Starling City's Emerald Archer in Episode 3 of Arrow. No word yet on who will be portraying the villain. It will be interesting to see how the show interprets the character, will it be the classic look from the comic books (they've teased Deathstroke's comic book mask) or something slightly more realistic like what was shown in Batman: Arkham City. As previously reported, these characters have no relation to CW's previous DC show, Smallville.

The third episode has been titled, “Lone Gunmen.”

Here's Oliver Queen actor, Stephen Amell's take on the news. Apparently someone really wants Oliver dead as they've enlisted DC's #1 and #2 assassins.

The Smallville incarnations of a lot of DC characters were overdone cartoons in the context of the show. While they mat have made the show more interesting, they also made it cheesy. Hopefully "Arrow" will possess the right context and level of believability to make some of these characters work on a weekly TV show.

I honestly know nothing about these characters, but im happy for DC fans its cool to see other characters incorporated into tv or cinematic media. Its has been a great year for cbm and announcements for tv shows. So hell yeah to DC and Marvel, because I am loving this part of my life. And in case your wondering why the sudden happiness................................................................. I am drunk like a mother *%$#

Smallville's versions of these characters were more traditional and feel like they came out of a comic book.

Arrow is taking The Dark Knight Trilogy approach by making it like it could exist in the real world, while still hinting at the source material (like Nolan's Joker). This is what they'll do with Deadshot & Deathstroke on Arrow, I can't wait!!!!

Smallville tried to make them more comic book like but just couldn't take it far enough. Though I think Deadshot on Smallville was more on the Dark Knight angle vs comic book side. At the end Smallville tried but then halfassed it(like Black Manta showing up for a cameo and yet they wasted the Aquaman).

@smgmayhem, Word. Pretty hammered myself and can hardly believe how epic this year has been and continues to be for comics on screen. Cheers! :)

I'm still annoyed they made Merlyn his best friend, but the villain list is good so far.

One thing DC has always excelled at is its rogues gallery. From Joker to Darkseid, Sinestro to Deathstroke, DC has had some wicked awesome bad guys.

If they can keep it close to the comic deadshot then it should be awesome!

@darkmetal - "It didn't become a bad show but it became a silly, reminder of Lois and Clark."

Yep. You nailed it.

Pretty high hopes for this show. Everytime I read something on here about it, it makes it sound better & better.

The only quelms I have are minor (No domino mask, not calling himself the Green Arrow, Starling City/Star City etc.) as long as they stick to what makes Green Arrow, Green Arrow, I'm down.

I hope he doesn't look like a cowboy douche like in Smallville. Lawton needs to be a character with some background and story. He is one of the best.

Is it just me or at 00:46 is the exterior for what I'm assuming is the Queen Mansion the same that was used for the Luthor Mansion in Smallville. Also @novaprime, really? it was not a shit show, it was a great show, and yes the later seasons were more silly... it was not bad.

I'm a big time smallville fan and I think I speak for all the fans when I say the show got lame once Micheal rosenbuam left..
It just wasn't the same..

Smallville was NEVER great.

The Wire, Sopranos, Breaking Bad were/are GREAT dramas.

Smallville was a cheap 90210 knockoff with a superhero twist.
