I am pleased to report that Kelly Hu's wig looked much better on screen than in the stills initially released. All kidding aside, yesterday saw the second episode of the CW's Green Arrow adaptation debut and with all the buzz surrounding the pilot I'm sure there are loads of opinions here. Sound off and vote below and if you missed the ep, it's now online at The CW for your viewing pleasure.

Look for my full review of this episode and the pilot to hit the site very soon.

KELLY HU GUEST STARS AS DC COMICS VILLAIN CHINA WHITE — Oliver heads to the courthouse to get his death certificate repealed and is pleasantly surprised to run into Laurel, who is there prosecuting Martin Somers (guest star Ty Olsson), a criminal with ties to the Chinese Triad. Oliver recognizes Martin's name from his father's book and sets his sights on taking him down. Martin orders the Triad to "take care of" Laurel so they send their top mercenary – China White (Hu) – after her, an act that culminates in a battle between Arrow and China White. Meanwhile, Moira and Walter (guest star Colin Salmon) ask Oliver to take over the company. Colin Donnell, Willa Holland, David Ramsey and Paul Blackthorne also star. David Barrett directed the episode with story by Greg Berlanti & Marc Guggenheim and written by Andrew Kreisberg & Marc Guggenheim.

I'm with Gunsmith AWESOME SHOW.

Maybe this show will make DC give the Green Arrow Comic another look and either make the current team step it up, or put a good team on it. *crosses fingers.*

This is a good show. I'm enjoying it.

The action is good.
But there is just waaaay too much bullet dodging going on.

I know that's typical for action movies/tv. But a guy with no radar or Spidey sense powers to help them get out of the way or move at the critical moment should be getting hit a lot more IMO.

Are spoilers allowed in this discussion?

The action of the show is really good.........but other than that it's pretty bad.

Good show, I'm enjoying Arrow. Eventually they'll have to let him get wounded with all the bullets flying around.

This was better than I expected. Nice nighttime soap opera setting, which great action scenes in between.

I agree that he doesn't seem very Ollie at the moment, but he did just get back from an island he was trapped on for 5 years so I don't expect him to immediately start acting like him. Although it's not that likely he ever will.

Ok, I'm not writing up another review for an ep of a tv show so I'll give my thoughts here. Explain to me what exactly he does to his voice when he's Arrow? Because all I hear is him pitching it slightly higher, and sounding like a whiny kid when he does it.. I laughed out loud at a couple of the demands/threats he made to the villains while sounding like little Miss Muffet.

And what is with the eye paint? They way they show him put on and remove his hood without it being present and then all of a sudden it's there while he's running around as Arrow..either he carries a super-fast working makeup remover or it's actually supposed to be a shadow from the hood, which is of course laughable.

Can't argue that the action is impressive, if a bit unbelievable but hey it IS a comic book show, I'll always allow for a bit of that suspension of disbelief.

What I won't allow for is bad writing and acting and we once again had some of that on display. Amell is ok as Queen, but a terrible Arrow. Cassidy a convincing lawyer? Please! If I was in that courtroom I'd be looking around for the hidden camera or the stripper pole. The supporting cast are still phoning it in, and are still working of a mediocre script when doing it. We also had a ridiculous cut during the China White/Arrow fight..they are scrapping, we cut to the police arriving..then Arrow is out running into the scruffy overacting Chief dude..pants.

Last scene when Queen is shot with the arrow - "aaaah, ooooh, ahhhhh" Awful, just awful eye rolling stuff.

BUT, I did think it was a step up over last week's. I am intrigued by the island stuff so will prob keep watching only for that. I find all of the douchey, socialite current stuff boring as hell.

2 and a half stars for this one.

ALL YOU NEED IS ACTION AND HOT WOMEN ND PACE WITH A DECENT ROLL TO THE STORY AND YOU HAVE MY ATTENTION. THIS ISNT TOO COLORFUL LIKE THE SMALLVILLE VERSION, BUT I'M SEEING ALOT OF NODS TO THE COMICS. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE HIM EVOLVE MORE AS THE SHOW PROGRESSES, WITH THE INTRODUCTION OF TOUGHER ADVERSARIES TO BEAT, IT WILL DO JUST THAT.

Has anyone else considered the other guy on the boat might be deathstroke? They havent said one word about this guy, left side of hos face is almost alway to the camara, the right side of his face is shadowed on the boat, and it look like Ollie's dad shoots him on the right. Jus something I've been wondering, not sure why they haven't said his name at all?

@rormachine That's actually pretty accurate for American culture and I didn't find the acting to be horrid by any means. If there's a knock on the show, I'd say the dialogue is a little tripe at times.

This is a great show so far. The acting is great and the story for the 2 episodes are great so far. Loving the Diggle character so far and Thea/Oliver relationship is great for right now. Wondering if her drug addiction will take a direction for the worse in upcoming episodes.

The writers are doing a great job at coming up with good episodes so far. Some people just trying too hard to find one thing that they dont like and not appreciating the rest of the things that are really great about the show.

I watch it..I don't hate it but not overwhelmed yet. It feels very Punisher but with a bow. He kills a lot of bad guys and Superman and Batman would have a huge problem with this if in fact they existed in the same universe. Doesn't feel like the JLA version of Green Arrow but its more than watchable. With time it will probably get better.

Good episode. There were some parts where the dialogue was a little off, but I liked it overall. It seems like they're starting to flesh out some of the supporting characters, especially Diggle and Thea.

I didn't see the premiere episode (set the DVR, it didn't work... bummer). Watched last nights episode... I liked it, the flashbacks to the island were interesting, did well in conveying the stranded survivor heading for a breakdown. My wife and son liked it too.

Ror, what's with the sexist comments on the female lawyer? I work in the court system (over 15 years now), I can tell you, there are quite a few females, both prosecutors and defense lawyers, who dress to kill, so to speak. Whether it's just their style, or they're using it to their advantage (let's just say it doesn't always work, but it doesn't hurt and leave it at that), they do flaunt their appearance, just as the sharped dressed male lawyers do. NO problems with her, though her acting isn't great.

This is better than the Bixby Incredible Hulk series, it's better than the Flash series, and I never watched Smallville cuz Supes bores me, so it's better than that just in title alone. This show is good enough, and it's got a lot of potential in telling the story... looks like the producers are going for a mix of Green Arrow and The Phantom, maybe.
GeekyCheekyChic
GeekyCheekyChic - 10/18/2012, 10:38 AM
acting wise---not better than the Bixby Hulk series or Flash or Birds of Prey or The Cape or Heroes or No Ordinary Family or The Tick. It is better than the 1960s Green Hornet and Batman...also better than the 1970s Wonder Woman and Spider-Man. The action is good but lets not be prisoner of the moment and elevate a mediocre show just because its a new and fresh take on a character. Birds of Prey was waaaaaaaayyyyy better.

IF PEOPLE DIDN'T HAVE OPINIONS THE LINE OF COMMENTS WOULD BE SHORT..I APPLAUD THE POSITIVE AND THE NEGATIVE, SOMEONE ON THE SHOW OR WORKS ON IT WILL SEE AND WILL USE THE POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE TO MAKE THE SHOW BETTER, SO BRING ON THE GOOD AND THE BAD I SAY.

Its great to have negatives for a show when they warrant one. Like when he is at the party suppose to be an uppity asshole in the pilot. Yeah that could have been better, but that alone was nothing to cry a river over cause it was still not as bad as people are making it out to be. People shouldn't put negatives on this show when other movies or shows do something that is on the same par or worse but give them passes on.

I agree with Hush. Seems they went the batman route. From this episode, Ollie is going to be the character he plays to everyone else, the partying, million dollar playboy. As he said, "What they need him to be," That that Ollie was him but died on the island... Even with that i am enjoying the show so far...

Pretentious fanboys are going to hate this series. Fanboys of comics and film will probably enjoy it. I think its pretty damn entertaining. I don't care how different it is. As a stand alone series its great. Try looking at it as an original concept instead of comparing it to the comics and you'll probably agree.

This episode was ok. It was definitely better than the pilot. The Martin Summers guy was more believable than the guy in the pilot. While it's not a great show, its ok, I'll keep watching because nothing else comes on a wednesday night.
