COMICS: DC Planning Supervillain Switcheroo Event?

The latest rumor on DC Comics' behind-the-scenes machinations says that the comic book publisher is planning a major event which will see heroes like Superman, Batman and others swapping villains. Read on and pick your battles in the comments section.

The rumor is that we'll have DC heroes encountering villains most readers would identify with another superhero; think Superman taking on Joker and Batman taking on Lex Luthor for example. The event will supposedly occur sometime in 2013 but the next and first title-wide event of the New 52 era is the Trinity War. Throne of Atlantis is currently unfolding across Justice League and Aquaman and concludes in February, the same month Justice League of America (an important title in Trinity War) debuts. Based on these known quantities, I'd have to guess that this villain-switch event will occur in the summer.

While this is a concept that we've seen before from DC and Marvel it's still an interesting idea this hasn't been explored to such a wide-scale degree by DC in modern comic book times. Heroes like Green Arrow, Wonder Woman, and Hawkman will do nothing but benefit from exposure to a rogue or two from Batman, Superman or the Flash.

Stay tuned to CBM for more details as the story develops.

Should be intresting! I could see Black Adam against Superman! Flash should seem intreating, Batman vs Dearhstroke :)

That's actually pretty cool. Instead of traditional villians and heroes going at it, other heroes get to see what the other villians are like.

I'd like to see Flash take on Joker, or Batman fight Grodd.

Joker would take a toll on anyone who isn't Batman, lol.

I rather see a huge crossover event Marvel, DC, IDW! Imagine Spiderman, Captain America, Batman, Superman, Optimus Prime, and SnakeEyes VS Green Goblin, Red Skull, Joker, Lex Luthor, Megatron, and Cobra Commander!!!

How AWESOME would that be?

I mean, it's not a bad idea per say, but given what's been coming out of DC lately, I ain't that enthused. I can't think of too many hero/villain pairings that stand out as a "must see". I always wanted to see Bruce Wayne vs Lex Luthor (note I didn't say Batman) as they were in the old DCU (Morrison's Rock of Ages was a great taste). But in the DCnU Luthor hasn't really been established. I dunnow. I'll wait and see I suppose.

As I've said before, I would like to see Sinestro, Black Adam, General Zod and Eclipso team up and become the new 4 Horsemen of Apokalipse, or even something similar. I'd also like to see the Cyborg Superman (Henshaw) become a more powerful villain... DC has always kept Henshaw on the B List of Super villains only bringing him to the A list during the destruction of Coast city. a Great way to do both, would be to have Henshaw conquer Apokalipse with his Marnhunter robots and Doomsday. Then take his place on the thrown of Apokalipse and release the 4 horsemen into the captured vessels of General Zod (War), Eclipso (Death), Black Adam (Pestilence), and Sinestro (Famine). It would be a universe shaking event that would move Henshaw back up the ladder to the A List where he began in Reign of the Supermen and Green Lantern.

It's not the concept that is interesting but how the writer creates the story concept.

I always wanted to see something like this happen in the movies. I'm glad that Arrow is having Firefly, who is mainly a batman villain, on the show soon.

I remember when Wonder Woman went up against the Joker back in the 90's. She channeled the mad god Pan to make herself as crazy as the Joker. That shit was insane!

Because Superman vs. Joker makes so much sense. Lex Luthor vs. Batman could be interesting though. Two geniuses against each other.

@Hush2010 Reed Richards could not defeat gala tus without the watcher's help, so how could he possibly be more intelligent than Luthor???? :s

kenjim152 - 12/1/2012, 9:53 PM
Besides Sue Richards has cheated on Reed with Namor for ages without him noticing, so how can he be possibly smarter than Luthor :)
