When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes—a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)—who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

Mouthwatering. Made me excited about a possible live-action Voltron or Robotech movie.

No whiny sissified garbage. ✓
Giant Robots. ✓
Giant Monsters. ✓
Arse Kicking. ✓
Guillermo del Torro. ✓
No emo music for TwilightTards. ✓

This is a must see.

Now, if we can get him to direct the BATMAN reboot, everything would be right with the universe.

There is no better director to make it happen. Plus, he'll have tons of monsters to play with.

@Jollem and Nomis

Del Torro's visionary style would bring BATMAN (from the comic) to life; I know that neither of you cares too much for that, and that's why I disagree with both of you about 99.9999999% of the time. Therefore, I’ve learned not to give either one of your posts a second thought.

So, with that said, I do find your attempts at communicating with me [regularly] quite humorous:

I do not see what is so excitign about this movie. It looks like a live action power rangers movie with a huge budget. ANd a ton of CGI.

I am surprised. I was excited for this movie, but the trailer was... I don't know. I guess I expected something different. I'll still see this just because it is Del Torro

This movie sounded great in theory but seeing the trailer with all that awful dialogue has me thinking this will be no better than Godzilla 98 - with added Transformers.

I'd love to do experiment with this trailer. Show 50 people the trailer as is. Then show another 50 the same trailer, only replace the name "Guillermo Del Torro" with "Michael Bay." I can almost guarantee the second group's reaction would be more like
"Oh great. More mindless giant robot action."
"Looks like Bay really wanted to do a Transformers crossover with Clash of the Titans."

Can't say I am blown away. Looks alright and I am on the fence as to whether it is a theater or Netflix view for me.

When did the members of this site descend to calling anyone who gives a skeptical or negative opinion about a film a "hater". I just don't get it. Wasn't that way 2-3 years ago. Guess I just answered my question. :-P

Kamen@ Well, we don't see eye to eye on that. Just because one isn't interested in a film after seeing a trailer because they think it looks crappy doesn't make them a hater. It just means they aren't interested in that specific film. If I were to use the logic that I can't establish whether a film is going to be crappy without actually going and seeing it, then I should have went to all the Twilight films, The Smurfs and a long list of all the other movies I didn't see because they looked crappy. ;-)

Thank you Michael Bay. Thanks to your being a failure of a storyteller, you have given birth an entire demographic of haters who will hate on anything that has giant robots in it, regardless of the fact that a proven storyteller and director is the one behind it.
