Just last month it was announced that newcomer Jesse Wigutow would rewrite a script from David DiGilio for a third entry in the Tron film franchise.
Garret Hedlund has also been confirmed to return for what could be a very interesting, potentially Grid-free threequel based on how 'Legacy' ended.
Fans that were waiting on the news of the third film took solace in the form of Tron:Uprising. Launched to much fanfare and featuring strong voice acting from Elijah Wood, Paul Reubens, Bruce Boxleitner and Emmanuelle Chriqui among others. Sadly, storyboard artist Eric Canete has confirmed that the show won't be receiving a second season. The show premiered on Disney XD on June 7th, 2012.
UPDATED: Producer Edward Kitsis has offered a
small glimmer of hope for the show. He says the show isn't cancelled yet, offering the following.
"“I don’t know what the future [of Tron: Uprising] is now. I know at the present, I can say we need more viewers....The problem is, not enough people are watching it...At this point, I don’t believe its fate has been decided. So if people keep watching, then there’s still a chance. Please watch. Tell your friends!”
So it appears that if ratings don't improve, the show will indeed be cancelled but an official decision has yet to be made. If you want the show to continue then you better tell all your friends to start watching. Of course airing episodes at midnight on Sunday doesn't exactly help viewership.
