For their Free Comic Book Day (May 4th) offering, DC is providing the first chapter of Geoff Johns and Richard Donner's Superman: The Last Son of Krypton which features a General Zod storyline that will tie-in nicely with the release of WB's Man of Steel on June 14th. Also in this comic book will be a special preview for Scott Snyder and Jim Lee's new Superman book also titled Man of Steel. Springtime will definitely mark a good time to be a Superman fan.

We'll get a "good" Superman book when this New 52! repugnant hilarity meets it's eventual demise...

As a retailer, I genuinely feel that Snyder's Batman is the ONLY DC book I can sincerely "push" to any of my customers. If it wasn't for Vertigo's PUNK ROCK JESUS, FAIREST, and the like, I wouldn't even be paying DC Entertainment's printed material ANY sort of attention.

I may be a bit closed-minded about all this, but the New 52! is a REALLY bad joke.

R.I.P. HELLBLAZER, you will be SORELY missed.

Snyder > most other comic writers. Johns is hit or miss. Definitely looking forward to this and even more so Snyder's and Lee's MoS.

...oh, and just to make my "point" a little clearer (like anyone gives a flying frak), the only reason Snyder's BATMAN is easy to push is because of the creative team, NOT because it's contenet makes ANY more sense than the other titles :/

Too many Lanterns..TOO many "Robins"...blah blah blah

@coolguy... Well like I said, I'm a retailer, and I'm ALWAYS glad to hear about a customer enjoying ANY title we sell, BELIEVE me.
I just don't like the character approach, the repetetive cover designs, rediculously unimaginative new villains, and COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY costume changes... not to mention the painful upheaval of over 70 years of DC continuity. As if the numerous 'Crises' weren't convoluted enough.

Sorry...I'm ranting..Marvel NOW! is treading dangerously close to the same precipice...

Am I missing something?

Is it COOL to just think everything in the comic world is crap, and to nitpick, and bitch about every little change, or decision Marvel, or DC makes. To complain over, and over about the same crap? Is that the COOL thing to do now, cuz it seems like everyone is doing it, and well...they think they're COOL for doing it. Maybe I should do it, you know to be COOL.

@punk it's the 90s all over again, fam.

@Blackvoid no, but it's kinda cool to try and turn characters that are supposed to be a beacon of hope into dark, turtured characters. Because kids this days are cynical.

@rbfn04 Well you might of had a point, but unfortunately the show is not geared toward children, and as you know we as ADULTS can handle such things. Or not...maybe not all of us.

Looking forward to Snyder, and Lee. Should be some nice work between the two.

I'm enjoying Snyder, Robinson, and Johns's writing.

Brings to mind what artist you guys liking right now? Ivan Reis all the way for me.

Already have that Action Comics issue and the trade, but I'll pick this up. Mainly for the Man of Steel books (both the New 52 and movie ones).

so wait.....Man Of Steel (movie) is not going to have any connection to the original 1978 one.....yet Donner is writing a tie-in for it.........dont get me wrong, I'm gonna get this and treasure it........but isn't that....counter their original statement lol

@punkstealingluggage

Are you sure you're a comic book retailer?

Anyway,so far,I enjoyed new 52 as well.I like how batsuit was redesign,in the same time I hate how superman's new 52 suit.I rather choose zack snyder's man of steel suit movie.

Unimaginative villain?such as?so far,detective comic really entertainment me,since #1.and also scott snyder's batman.

New 52 good titles
1) Batman
2)Phantom Stranger
3)Swamp Thing
4)Batman
5)Wonderwoman
6)Aquaman
7)Batman and Robin
8)Justice League
9)Nightwing
10)Red hood and the outlaws
11)SUICIDE SQUAD!!!!!

Dreadfully not a decent superman book yet. Johns hasn't been good since his run withe the war of light and blackest night. Before that it was his scavengers run.

Marvel NOW! good titles

1)All-New X-Men
2)Avengers
3)New Avengers
4)Indestructible Hulk
5)Thor God of Thunder
6)The Savage Wolverine
7)Wolverine and The X-Men
8)Daredevil
9)Fury Max
10) and my guilty pleasure THUNDERBOLTS!!!!

Both companies have good titles, just have to find your thing.
