Appleseed's Shinji Aramaki will direct the CG film which is said to reinterpret the themes in Leiji Matsumoto's 1977 manga for modern society. This film has Toei Animation's highest production budget ever which equates to about $30M U.S. and will be released to much fanfare in Japan.

mmmm Harlock - yes used to watch these on VHS back in the mid 80s - cool anime! ( back when we called them Japanese Cartoons in the states )

I'm guessing there's next to no plot and the little that is there is convoluted to the point of being incomprehensible. There will also be a woman with gravity defying tits and an annoying sidekick animal with impossibly large eyes. The English voice acting will also be terrible.

After Leiji Matsumoto masterpiece we just need a movie about Go Nagai Superrobots like Mazinger Z,Grendizer and Getter Robot.
I seemed always like a dream but after the trailer of Pacific Rim I think is just about time...
