J.J. Abrams' Bad Robot and video game company Valve Software will work together to bring Half-Life and Portal to the big screen. Video game adaptations look to be all the rage at the moment and could finally be getting their due in Hollywood.

Don't worry he won't be directing, he'll be busy with other things....probably. But his production company Bad Robot will be teaming with Valve Software to adapt some of each others properties for video games and films. BR will help Valve make movies and Valve will help BR make video games. "We sort of reached the point where we decided that we needed to do more than talk,"said Gabe Newell of Valve. Video game adaptations appear to be in a bit of a resurgence with recognizable talent signing up for films such as:

World of Warcraft--Duncan Jones to direct, Johnny Depp rumored to star
Need for Speed -- Scott Waugh to direct, Aaron Paul, Dominic Cooper, Imogen Poots and Michael Keaton to star
Mortal Kombat: Legacy 2 -- Kevin Tancharoen to direct, Casper Van Dien, Brian Tee, Cary Tagawa to star
Splinter Cell -- Tom Hardy to star
Assassins Creed -- Michael Fassbender to star
