ARROW Episode 18 'Salvation' Poll & Discussion, Extended Promo For Episode 19 'Unfinished Business'

The CW's Arrow (Stephen Amell) confronted another vigilante last night, an individual named The Savior (Christopher Redman) who happened to have Roy Harper (Colton Haynes) in his crosshairs.

Some interesting philosophical questions were raised in last night's episode of Arrow. The Savior is another fledgling vigilante setting up shop in Starling City, one who kidnaps his targets and broadcasts their execution on the internet. One scene that stood out in my mind was an exchange between Oliver and Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) where he tells (screams really, what was up with that?) her that they need to catch The Savior because he doesn't have Oliver's restraint. But Oliver kills targets according to his own personal agenda and traumatic experiences, the same as The Savior. Are they truly that much different? That was something I think the episode failed to clearly establish before the final confrontation between the two. Still, a solid episode that introduced some new elements into the show that should pay dividends as we progress towards the season finale. What did you think of the episode, was it one of the better efforts or a step backwards?

OLIVER MUST SAVE ROY HARPER FROM A MURDERER — An angry resident of The Glades who calls himself “The Savior” (guest star Christopher Redman) embarks on a kidnapping and killing spree to punish those he believes have wronged the residents of his neighborhood. To make things worse, he broadcasts these murders online and claims he was inspired by Arrow’s (Stephen Amell) vigilantism. Oliver is horrified by this statement and vows to stop “The Savior,” but his manhunt in intensified after Thea (Willa Holland) comes to him in tears and tells him Roy (guest star Colton Haynes) has been kidnapped. Laurel (Katie Cassidy) is surprised when her father (Paul Blackthorne) starts to believe her mother’s (guest star Alex Kingston) claim that Sara is still alive. Meanwhile, Malcom (John Barrowman) tells Moira (Susanna Thompson) to find the person responsible for his attempted murder. David Ramsey and Colin Donnell also star. Nick Copus directed the episode written by Drew Z. Greenberg & Wendy Mericle (#118).

Arrow Episode 19 Unfinished Business

GUEST STAR SETH GABLE ("FRINGE") RETURNS AS THE COUNT - When a young woman meets a violent death after partying at Verdant, Detective Lance (Paul Blackthorne) and his new partner, Detective Hilton (guest star Roger Cross) inform Oliver (Stephen Amell) and Tommy (Colin Donnell) that she was on the drug Vertigo. Oliver immediately pays a visit to the mental institution where The Count (guest star Gabel) is locked up, but finds he is in no condition to deal drugs. However, when The Count escapes and Starling City is flooded with even more Vertigo-related violence, Oliver and Diggle (David Ramsey) make it their mission to track him down. After Detective Lance uncovers incriminating evidence against him, Tommy goes to great lengths to clear his name, and the fallout from his actions leads Tommy down a new, unexpected path. In a flashback to the island, Oliver recalls the lessons he learned from Slade (guest star Manu Bennett) and Shado (guest star Celina Jade). Katie Cassidy and Emily Bett Rickards also star. Michael Offer directed the episode written by Bryan Q. Miller & Lindsey Allen (#119).

Like the look Roy had when he pulled the arrow out his pocket. The closeness of the red blood dripping from the arrow that was in the savior has to be some form of metaphor for Roy.

Good solid show.
I do wish that they'd stop revealing secret identities in movies and tv so cavalierly.
And before anyone screams from the almighty pulpit of Realism, lets remember we're talking about comic book superheroes. I want them to stop putting battle amor on Batman. I want the Black Widow to have her Widow's Bite back. Having Batman be able to turn his head or Natasha firing from her wrists, is NOT going to make the public accept these characters any less. They've discovered the secret to the general public accepting our comic book world - it's good wring AND good acting.
So again, I acknowledge that it's highly improbable that anyone could keep it a secret from their family and friends if they were to put on a mask and tights and go zooming around town beating up bad guys. Tough. It's part of the convention of being a superhero.
I'll admit, one of the only good scenes in the GL movie was at the end when Carol easily identifies Hal. Very cute and I actually laughed.
But a BETTER scene is when Peter Parker was clinging to the ceiling waiting for everyone to leave, especially Norman Osborn. CLASSIC! And a moment stolen right out of the comic (structurally if not literally).
Let Oliver's secret-identity-give-away stop right now!
Okay, I'll give you Roy Harper, but THAT'S it!

Last night was a great episode! The scene when Oliver killed "Savior" was done with masterful perfection.
Great music and directing in that scene especially made it a very powerful moment. When scenes are so powerful you can feel what the characters are feeling you are watching something special!

The episode was BETTER than any part of TDKR and ASM by leaps and bounds!

It and other episodes have been better than most films and I have to say I put some episodes like 'Savior' right there with the satisfaction and intense enjoyment I got from 'Skyfall'.

Great performances from a great cast. Someone needs to make Nolan watch the show that he supposedly inspired so he can see great performances and action and humor can co exist.

If Arrow was inspired by Nolan then the student has become the master!

Its like the best CBM is not in theaters but on TV.

'Savior' was epic perfection!

@Nomis Agreed and I think Felicity will keep Oliver more focused on restraint as well.

Once they fill Oliver's team I think (and hope) they'll stop revealing his identity. He needs a team so the stories are more dynamic. Roy and Thea maybe? Sooner or later I'm guessing Shado and Slade will come to Starling City as well.

@ Anyone - How is Slade going to become Deathstroke or is Wintergreen going to be Deathstroke?

Anyone got theories?

"Should be home in the Flash" Best line in the episode...it's a pity there's no place for someone like Flash in this kind of Green Arrow version...it wouldn't fit.

I know Slade is Deathstroke in the comics but I thought Slade took Wintergreen's eye out in that tussle at the base, suggesting he'll become D'stroke. But yeah that second picture pretty well says it!!

Maybe Slade's and Oliver's 'working' relationship will come to a major moral impasse regarding leaving the island. I questioned it because so far Slade seems like a decent guy, especially his reaction over Shado as ransom. Another possibility is that he takes a super soldier serum (like in the comics), or Fries injects him, which drives Slade crazy., pitting him against Oliver.

This will motivate Slade to come to S' City to go Terminator on Ollie.

another fantastic episode. That music when Ollie shot The Savior and Roy was looking like he was starstruck was pitch perfect. Got chills from it.

Colton Hayes is really really good as Roy. That dude is on point.

That Flash reference was funny. I laughed the second I heard it. It was so corny but she delivered it perfect. Just like how Barry did in Young Justice.

I dont want Felicity and Ollie to hook up. We all know who Ollie is going to end up with and Felicity doe not need to be one of his girls on his Black Book. LOL. She deserves better like someone like Diggle.

Glad that the sister will stay dead now. Deaths need to stick in this show and no one needs to come back from the dead after something like that. If she would have came back, I expect the dad to show back up in the future.

I think Slade is just helping Ollie for his benefit right now and will show his true allegiance in the future. Wintergreen is dead in my book. That big knife was too far in is eye and it should have penetrated his brain.

Another innocent man is dead because Moira cant do nothing on her own. Lau just cant come out of these DC shows alive. She has alot of explaining to do and needs to pay for her crimes. Don't expect her to make it to season 2.

5 episodes left and the writers have truly found their footing for each episode now. Cant wait to see what the finale brings especially in the action department because the action has been top notch so far and I expect something really big for the finale in both the Flasback sequences on the island and the present time.

Good episode. However were getting to the point where he needs to adopt the title of green arrow. This isn't superman or Batman where everybody.knows who they are and there background. I would imagine some people watching this show have no idea there's a hero called green arrow

I dig the hell out of this show. Action is top notch, music is amazing, the characters are all becoming so interesting. Roy Harper, Felicity, and Slade ARE ALL confirmed as series regulars. Now Shado is in the mix too!!! and the actress is insanely hot!

Really good episode, I can't believe that more people don't watch this show. I kinda figured that Moira would betray the guy who played Lau in The Dark Knight (I don't know what his character's name on the show is) but whatever.

To all of you complaining that Oliver is revealing his identity to too many people just calm down. Only a few people know it's not like Iron Man 1 when Tony Stark revealed his identity to the world, and went public with his so every villain can know who he is, and where he lives so just calm down okay.

@MarkOfTheDemon
okay . . . calming down . . .
Whew! Thanks!
I WAS getting out of control there for a sec . . .
I'm glad you agree that Oliver shouldn't let anyone else in on his secret activities. That he's hit the perfect quota. You're sooo right, he's not like Tony Stark yet. Iron Man is definitely the gold standard to compare all heroes to with regards to identity sharing. Anyone who lets less than 25 people know can officially say they still have a "secret identity."
Look, everyone knows the list of those in-the-know is now up to 4 (Helena, Tommy, Diggle and Felicity). I don't have a top number and I'm not hyper-ventalating. All I'm saying is you know more are coming. Roy, Slade, Yao Fei, Shado, and probably Sprrdy (sis), and eventually Malcolm Merlyn, the Dark Arrow.
More comic book secret identity and less "realistic" de-hooding.

Now back to your wild uncontrolled ranting . . .
