Here's some non-April Fools news for you. The newest installment of Dragon Ball Z premiered in Japan on March 30th and in a two-day total, the film earned $7 million US on 328 screens in Japan. That was good enough for a 5th place finish in the international box office race where Battle of Gods was up against films currently playing in far more than just a single country.
More sobering news however are the various reports which state it make take up to 2 years for an official english voice-over release. Of course, bootlegs will inevitably leak in the interim but they won't have the same HD quality as an official release. This news hasn't been released through official channels but it's being consistently reported across various sites and forums. Keep your fingers crossed that Fox will view the box office success as a sign to greenlight a subtitled, limited-release here in the states. Stay tuned to CBM for more news as the story develops.
