Game of Thrones Season 3

If you're like me, you tuned in to the 2-hr season premiere of AMC's Mad Men and then fell asleep trying to catch the repeat of the second episode of HBO's Game of Thrones. I wonder what the ratings will be for the two shows? Mad Men will surely win seeing as how it's on a basic-cable network and Game of Thrones is on premium-cable network but I wonder just how large the gap will be?

Game of Thrones Season 3 will be based on A Storm of Swords, the third novel in the A Song of Ice and Fire book series from author George R.R. Martin. Due to the sheer length of the third novel, which is roughly 1.5 times the size of the first novel, the events of A Stomr of Swords will be split over two seasons. The cruel reign of the boy-king Joffrey Baratheon continues thanks to an alliance with House Tyrell. King of the North Robb Stark must decide whether to remain in the field against the Lannisters or return to Winterfell and address the actions of a traitor. Bran Stark journeys across a frozen wasteland to reach The Wall and what lies beyond. Daenerys Targaryen searches for an army to take back her homeland. Jon Snow must navigated dangerous waters filled with White Walkers and the bloodthirsty wildlings of the King-Beyond-the-Wall Mance Rayder.

As Soundwave would say: Game of Thrones-Superior, Mad Men-Inferior.

According to Wikipedia, last year's Mad Men premiere was its most-watched episode to date, and it had 3.5 million viewers. From what I recall, last week's Game of Thrones premiere had something like 6 million viewers for the first showing, and more than 7 million through all the showings of it that night.

So my money would be on Game of Thrones.

GOT's premeire increased by 13% from the previous years premeire. It kills Mad Men in its ratings.

And that was going up against The Walking Dead finale, which is AMC's highest rated show.

Once everyone gets to see Dany and how she "purchases" the Unsullied, this debate will be over.

I hate to say it but the past two episodes have been pretty bland (minus the Tyrion + Tywin scene and Jamie fight). I still love GoT though and look forward to the next episode. I just hope it picks up a little. More Dani and less Bran and his little brother would be preferrable.

Also, yeah, [frick] Mad Men.
