Other Heroes Can Inhabit The World Of MAN OF STEEL Says WB Film President

WB Film President Jeff Robinov doesn't mince words when talking about what Man of Steel means for the studio's superhero plans moving forward. Says Man of Steel allows other characters to be introduced into Superman's world.

Here's something to lend a little truth to those rumors about behind the scenes plans for a live-action film for The Flash.

From day one, director Christopher Nolan firmly stated that the world he created in Batman Begins was stand-alone and not meant to be inhabited by superpowered heroes like Superman and Wonder Woman. That's a sentiment that remained true all the way up to the trilogy's conclusion in The Dark Knight Rises. However, things are different with Zack Snyder's Man of Steel which is thought to be the starting point for Warner Bros. superhero plans that include a Justice League film. Despite some recent rumors that those plans have changed, WB Motion Pictures President Jeff Robinov confirms that the cinematic world created in Man of Steel will lead to other characters from DC Comics gracing the big screen in the latest issue of EW. Confirmation doesn't come any stronger than that.

On other characters entering the cinematic world of Man of Steel?
Roven: "[Man of Steel's] setting the tone for what the movies are going to be like going forward. In that, Man of Steel is definitely a first step. What Zack and Chris have done with [Man of Steel] is allow you to really introduce other characters into the same world."

Man of Steel screenwriter David S. Goyer was a little less direct on the same subject but he coyly dropped a hint that there will be some easter eggs.
Goyer: "I would love to tell you yes or no [on Man of Steel leading to a shared universe], but I think it’s going to be more exciting for people to keep a beady eye out and find what they can find."

What type of easter eggs should we keep a look out for in the film? Maybe references to Coast City, Gotham, Blüdhaven or Central City? Our own Jake Lester says there's a strong possibility of a Wonder Woman reference in Man of Steel.

What's also exciting here is that Man of Steel represents a potential change in philosophy for Warner Bros. which has used Christopher Nolan's style of dark, gritty realism as a template for its superhero plans for the last eight years. If Man of Steel can equal the box office success of The Dark Knight Rises, expect the studio to become more accepting of the fantastical and spectacular.

This is great news. I really, really hope this is the Superman we've been waiting to see and is as successful as Nolan Batman movies to get this shared universe kicked off in the right way. This coupled with the Charlie Hunnam/Flash rumor is getting me very excited!

It sounds like DC/WB finally realized how excited we are for the MCU and how 'meh' we are about DC movies. I think they've swallowed their pride and decided to follow the money. Which is good news for us.

so, Batman is going to appear at the end telling Clark that he's part of a bigger universe now, then Clark asks "who are you?" and then Batman responds "I'm Batman", then cue end credits :P

@SupermanRising- I respectfully disagree with you. If anything, it'll probably be a post-credits scene or just a mention of a city or something. All of the Marvel movies have had easter eggs and post/mid-credits scenes, and I don't think it distracted anything from those characters spotlights at all.

I always hated Superman but now I am really looking forward to this movie. And also want to know what WB is going to do with the other characters.
I think they should keep the momentum going and do a sequel while also making other heros introductions like wonder woman, flash, etc.

Batman Forever mentioned Metropolis! Look how that turned out! You can mention landmarks and cities but that doesn't count as an automatic pay off more a shared universe! Sorry, it doesn't work that way! Show an extended clip with Bruce Wayne, give a clue to a particular martian arriving to earth, hell, show the damn Teen Titan's Tower! Just don't mention crap! It seems forced! Reveal a secret space station being built in space that will lead to being Justice League Headquarters. Have Samule J. Jackson make a came and tell supe's that he's part of a bigger picture!

It would be cool to have a bit where Lois is prepping for an assignment to go to Gotham to Interview Bruce Wayne, who just recently took back control of Wayne Enterprises. That introduction to Batman in the same universe could be plausible and small.

SupermanRising, so far there have been 5 Superman feature films release with no mention of other superheroes. Since Superman does indeed exist in a universe where there are other superheroes with whom he occasionally teams up, why not finally acknowledge they exist, especially since DC/Warner Bros seems about ready to create a shared cinematic universe?
