New RIDDICK Trailer "You're Not Afraid Of The Dark Are You?"

Check out the new Riddick trailer courtesy of Machinima.com, starring Vin Diesel and directed by David Twohy. The trailer definitely hints at a return to the tone and visuals of the first, classic sci-fi film. Will you be checking this one out in theaters?

Riddick hits U.S. theaters September 6th, 2013.

The latest chapter of the groundbreaking saga that began with 2000′s hit sci-fi film Pitch Black and 2004′s The Chronicles of Riddick reunites writer/director David Twohy (A Perfect Getaway, The Fugitive) and star Vin Diesel (the Fast and Furious franchise, xXx). Diesel reprises his role as the antihero Riddick, a dangerous, escaped convict wanted by every bounty hunter in the known galaxy.

The infamous Riddick has been left for dead on a sun-scorched planet that appears to be lifeless. Soon, however, he finds himself fighting for survival against alien predators more lethal than any human he’s encountered. The only way off is for Riddick to activate an emergency beacon and alert mercenaries who rapidly descend to the planet in search of their bounty.

The first ship to arrive carries a new breed of merc, more lethal and violent, while the second is captained by a man whose pursuit of Riddick is more personal. With time running out and a storm on the horizon that no one could survive, his hunters won’t leave the planet without Riddick’s head as their trophy.

Based on that, I think I'm going to enjoy the first half of the film more than the second half. I like the idea of Riddick taking down bounty hunters one by one, kind of like he's the alien. That interests me more than him teaming up with the people sent to kill/capture him. But, whatever, I liked the first two for what they were. And this isn't a situation where a bad third film is going to ruin my enjoyment of the others.

looks a lot like pitch black, with the crew replaced by mercenaries, looks alright. Are those the same creatures from the first film?

Wasup RorMachine, I'm not expecting much either but if they've really brought it back to the tone and style of Pitch Black(looks like it), then it'll at least be pretty good(I hope). I'll be checking it though.

As a RIDDICK fan since Pitch Black, this to me looks beyond awesome.
And thanks to Katee 'Starbuck' Sackhoff and I'm in geek heaven.

Shite? WTF?? It looks cool!
Not awesome, not epic, but really cool.
The first one was a sci-fi horror/thriller like Alien, while the 2nd was this weird fantasy action adventurer. This one finally takes him back to the horror/thriller roots of the original!!

Looks decent. ill check it out.

But damn, Vin needs to get back in the gym. His last few movies he hasnt looked very pumped for the roles.
The Rock was twice his size in Fast Five, and in this one he looks really small.

Vin Diesel has never been the rocks size. The Rock looked twice his size because he is twice his size.

"you are not afraid of the dark are you?" I think teenagers write some movies in Hollywood. I hate cheesy diologues.

IDK. I kinda liked the second one. Don't get me wrong, I loved the first one, but "The Chronicles of Riddick" was pretty damn good. It was much more Sci-Fi epic than the first one. Think they should have stayed with the continuation of that storyline IMHO. Going backwards, and delivering another plot that is pretty much the same as the first film is never a good thing. That realm of thought didn't work out so well for the Alien Franchise or "Superman Returns".

JatevinM - sure rocks bigger, but I've seen rock not at his peak. He's not THAT much bigger. But he did buff up for the movie, Vin didn't. Vin was bigger back in the first fast and furious and pitch black..... Bottom line he looks small. He just needs to put that care back into the gym before filming that he used to and that Rock still does especially if he still wants roles like that. Imo

Pitch Black was great. Riddick missed a step or two but is very watchable sci-fi. I hate to see them trying to do a Pitch Black rip off.

I like the series and its mythology so I'll give it a shot but I'm going in w/ low expectations. That's the key to being pleased: LOW EXPECTATIONS.
