The Rains of Castamere" is the ninth episode of the third season of HBO's fantasy television series Game of Thrones, and the 29th episode of the series. The episode was written by executive producers David Benioff and D. B. Weiss, and directed by David Nutter. It will air on June 2, 2013.

"Robb (Richard Madden) presents himself to Walder Frey (David Bradley), and Edmure (Tobias Menzies) meets his bride. Jon (Kit Harington) faces his harshest test yet. Bran (Isaac Hempstead-Wright) discovers a new gift. Daario (Ed Skrein) and Jorah (Iain Glen) debate how to take Yunkai. House Frey joins with House Tully. "

Game of Thrones Season 3 will be based on A Storm of Swords, the third novel in the A Song of Ice and Fire book series from author George R.R. Martin. Due to the sheer length of the third novel, which is roughly 1.5 times the size of the first novel, the events of A Stomr of Swords will be split over two seasons. The cruel reign of the boy-king Joffrey Baratheon continues thanks to an alliance with House Tyrell. King of the North Robb Stark must decide whether to remain in the field against the Lannisters or return to Winterfell and address the actions of a traitor. Bran Stark journeys across a frozen wasteland to reach The Wall and what lies beyond. Daenerys Targaryen searches for an army to take back her homeland. Jon Snow must navigated dangerous waters filled with White Walkers and the bloodthirsty wildlings of the King-Beyond-the-Wall Mance Rayder.

Not convinced that the next episode is the Red Wedding. They have said that this season only covers the first half of book 3, and next season will cover the second half of book 3. I figure the Red Wedding will be the season finally.

Red Wedding will be a finale as that is some shocking shit, but who cares, this season has been awesome.

I don't know what this [frick]ing Red Wedding is but nothing will be as shocking as Ned Starks death, unless they kill of Arya, Jon, Dany and Tyrion in one [frick]ing episode now that would be [frick]ing shocking. The pain might actually end up killing me.

@Hellsing

For the Red Wedding, take Ned's shocking death and times that by about a hundred. Thats how DAFUQ! It is.

Guys it's not gonna be as shocking and awesome if everyone is talking about it. Now, even though they don't know what it is they still know its coming. Stop overhyping it, you're ruining it.

Like I told JoeMomma, i'm pretty sure the Red Wedding is next week's episode. Plus were ya'll not at all listening to Cersei story to Margarey last night? Rains of Castamere is bout one house destroying another. I'm holding my tongue on spoilers, but i'm 85% sure Red Wedding will be the next episode. Tho I have not seen it so cannot say for sure.

Everybody who read the book knows all about the Red Wedding and the events of that, but everyone seems to be forgetting about Jofferey's wedding and those events! If people who read the book think the red wedding is going to shock non-readers, then wait until they see Jofferey's wedding...BIG SHOCK! Hopefully if they stick to the book, then we shall see Joff's wedding either next episode or the last episode tied in with the red wedding. @Hellsing I agree with @HavocPrime. If non-readers thought Ned Stark's death was a shock, then they ain't seen nothing yet! Including Joff's wedding as well. Oh boy, good stuff coming up.

@nowtheresaBATman
The Rains of Castamere is played at a hundred events in the book, and played a more prominent role at Jeofferey's wedding. We will see, don't care when it is as long as they do it justice.

If they do the Red Wedding this week though, and not as the season finally, it's not going to leave a lot of material from the third book to make into next season.

thedangle1 - 5/20/2013, 3:28 PM
@nowthereaBATman...Yes you are right. I forgot the events of Joff's wedding happen after the red wedding, which we might not see until the next season, or if they jump ahead, might end this season with that shocker. Who knows...will have to wait and see.
