In celebration of the summer’s most eagerly anticipated film, DC Entertainment is partnering with comic book retailers and bookstores across America to declare Wednesday, June 12 MAN OF STEEL DAY, ahead of the film’s wide release on Friday, June 14. Sponsored by Sears, those visiting their local comic book retailers on MAN OF STEEL DAY will receive a free copy of ALL STAR SUPERMAN #1 SPECIAL EDITION comic book by Grant Morrison and Frank Quietly.

In addition to the free comic, DC Entertainment has partnered with Warner Bros. to provide comic shops with various MAN OF STEEL promotional posters and bags to get fans geared up for the film’s release.

Fans who visit comic stores on MAN OF STEEL DAY can also purchase the first issue of red-hot new comic series, SUPERMAN UNCHAINED, from bestselling creators Scott Snyder and Jim Lee. The series promises to elevate the already high-flying hero to new heights as he faces off against foes familiar and new. SUPERMAN UNCHAINED #1 includes a bonus two-sided, tipped-in poster measuring approximately 11” x 18” that can be easily removed for display.

“Comic fans and moviegoers have made it very clear that they are eagerly awaiting the arrival of MAN OF STEEL in theaters and we’re excited to offer our retailer partners a chance to celebrate the occasion and tap into fan’s enthusiasm,” stated John Cunningham, vice president of marketing, DC Entertainment.

Also available at comic retail locations is DC Collectibles’ all-new line of 12” MAN OF STEEL statues that capture the film’s characters, Superman, Jor El, Zod and Faora, in stunning, highly-realistic likenesses. The line is already a top seller for DC Collectibles, further demonstrating retailer and fan excitement for MAN OF STEEL.

Continuing the celebration around the film’s release, DC Entertainment has partnered with Random House to bring MAN OF STEEL to libraries across the U.S. on Saturday, June 15. More than 1,000 local libraries will offer visitors buttons, bookmarks and Superman comics.

On the digital front, ALL STAR SUPERMAN #1 will also be available for free download, courtesy of Sears, and the “Superman 201” digital comics sale kicks off on June 12 at www.readdcentertainment.com, the DC Comics app, and all digital platforms (comiXology, Kindle, iBookstore, Nook). The sale offers hundreds of acclaimed Superman titles like SUPERMAN: SECRET ORIGIN by Geoff Johns and Gary Frank, SUPERMAN: FOR TOMORROW by Brian Azzarello and Jim Lee, SUPERMAN: BIRTHRIGHT by Mark Waid and Leinil Yu – all for $.99 each.

That would be a huge kick in the balls to IM3 home sales because nobody is gonna care that its been released.

When Thor comes out, audiences will be a lot more weary of Marvel after the fast one they just pulled.Way to flush all the good will from The Avengers down the crapper.

Once, I believed in grif, but then it happend. I've never thought, that especially he would like that crap socalled "movie". IM3 sucked so hard, I can't explain it. Well I try: Just watch the trailers and spots and compare it with the actual sucking movie.

One bad choice can destroy everything and that's what happend with IM2 and then with IM3 big time. If they had chosen to make the movie serious, without the crap jokes all over with King as Mandarin, then it would have kicked ass, but unfortunately it kicked its own ass.

But the most sad thing is, that people believe it was good, because of the earned money. LMAF! IM1 is the Ironman movie we deserved and got and not the other two crap.

BTT: MOS will kick the most ass!

a dick today, how am i trolling? i left one comment(this being the second) man of steel is my second most anticipated comic book movie this year, thor the dark world is first.

it just a bit of banter to stir shit up.
WarnerBrother
WarnerBrother - 5/21/2013, 3:56 PM
Plus Disney wouldn't have the balls for such a dick move since they know WB would return the favor releasing MOS when Thor TDW comes out.

When this year is over people are gonna remember it as the time when the biggest CBM box office wise (That would be IM3) was only the forth best behing MOS.The Wolverine and Thor TDW.

Biggest sucker move by Disney, ripping off the fans by taking advantage of good will from a prior film since POTC On Stranger Tides, another POS film that fricked me in
the arse without kissing me first.
TheWolverine08
TheWolverine08 - 5/21/2013, 3:57 PM
I think only comic fans dislike IM3. I believe the general audience at up all the jokes. But they should have tried to appeal to comic fans and the general audience, IMO.

i can't see iron man 3 putting off people from seeing thor the dark world.

did transformers revenge of the fallen put people off seeing transformers dark of the moon?

did iron man 2 put people off seeing iron man 3 or any of the other marvel studio movies that came after?

thor the dark world is not gonna take the same money as iron man 3 but i do think it'll take between $450-$600,000,000.

@marvel72

You have a point there. Did Star Wars Episode one stop people from seeing Attack of the Clones? Did The Matrix Reloaded stop anybody from seeing Revolutions?
How about Dead Mans Chest and World's End?

Well, yes they did.Granted they still made a lot of money but now days you can't find anybody who wants to admit they paid to see those films.Everybody calls them crap. You would think they bombed, since fanboys hate them so much.

What worries me is the effect Marvel's "getting cute" could have on future Marvel films.

See,I admit that I'm a DC fan first. And while I never had a love for Ironman outside
of The Avengers until RDJ came along,I have always been a huge fan of Captain America going back to his team up days with the Falcon in the mid 70's.

Winter Soldier looks awesome and Marvel didn't pull any dick moves in First Avenger like they have in the last two Ironman films.

They did short change Steve Rodgers in The Avengers by cutting out some "Man out of time" scenes from the film, but I'll give them a pass and assume that will be covered in Winter Soldier.

When Thor TDW comes out, people will be keyed to any b.s. cheap attempts to turn
it from a fantasy epic into an action comedy and will scream bloody murder.

Thats my beef,IM3 should have been a straight up Action Adventure film, not
Lethal Weapon thawed out with superpowers.

The only thing missing was Rhody shoot Killian in the head at the shipyard after twisting his head around and saying "Ghost Spit."

Fool me once.....you know the rest.

I have met a number of porn chicks and most of them believe it or not don't look so hot without makeup. The older gals from my eighties generation tend to be cool as hell and down to earth.
