MAN OF STEEL Producers Are Reading Your Sequel Ideas

Should Warner Bros. follow up Man of Steel with a sequel? Or perhaps a World's Finest team-up with Batman? Or maybe even that Justice League film fans have been jonesing after for quite some time. Or...

SFX Magazine just posted an interview with Man of Steel producer Charles Roven which covers a wide-range of topics. However, Roven is definitely careful in his responses to the interviewer's questions, being careful not to give anything away or give a response that could spark a rumor. However, an interesting tidbit he did reveal was that Roven (who counts himself among a mysterious "we", a "we" that maybe includes Zack Snyder) is reading all your speculation and theories about where Man of Steel should head next after its debut on June 14th.

"Well, I think you can go anywhere beyond this film that the mind can take you, and certainly we’ve been reading online all of the various possibilities being laid out there by both fan sites and fans. Our goal has been to focus on Man Of Steel and to get it out there for old fans and new fans, and we think it’s a film that the whole family can go and enjoy. But we really want to focus on making this the best movie it can be, and then who knows what can happen."

You can't help but think when he says, "We've been reading online all of the various possibilities being laid out there by both fan sites and fans" that he's talking about all the discussion and debate that's been taking place right here on CBM. So continue to voice your opinions and thoughts, you never know who might be reading them.

Its quite simple really, IMO there are three roads to take.

One-- Reboot Batman ASAP either in solo or World's Finest and start a Justice League movie with the BIG 2 already established and spin out the rest

Two-- Wonder Woman and Flash in 2015 ideally and then push a JL movie in 2016 with Superman, Wonder Woman and Flash all established and Green Lantern along with Batman being fresh in the audiences mind.

Three-- Marvel Way-- Release two films a year. Ideally I'd put a BIGGER franchise with the smaller ones to have them make up and help one another. Something like 2015--Batman & Flash 2016--MOS 2 & Green Lantern 2017--Wonder Woman & Justice League

As far as the sequel for Man of Steel, I think Braniac and Luthor (not Hackman/Spacey versions) might be the villains. Hopefully Man of Steel is a resounding success and we finally get a Justice League movie underway!

I totally agree with @C17Swampy, I think the best option is the first one. Making a World's Finest Movie before Justice League could introduce Batman in the DCCU. Also they could make some cameos of other heroes, creating a prelude to the Justice League

The main thing I want to see right now is the picture in the article. I think most moviegoers heads would explode from seeing Cavill and Bale on screen, too much awesomeness.

JUSTICE LEAGUE VS BRAINIAC IN MY STORY
SimpleObserverOfThings
SimpleObserverOfThings - 5/30/2013, 9:40 AM
Ending the movie with Doomsday isn't really a good way to end the trilogy and I don't think it'll be a trilogy when you have three big names villains of Superman, one of them potentially involving the entire Justice League.

Doomsday to me would be the next movie as a side enemy of Superman that Braniac ends up throwing at him... Again with the movie industry you play a little bit about the origin of Doomsday. I can see Doomsday being one of the last of it's kind captured by Brainiac and released on earth that Superman has to defeat before confronting Brainiac. Or....

Doomsday does come to earth first as a result of Brainiac using him as a world destroyer before invading the planet that he wants to add to his collection.

Many ideas but I think to make this series fantastic I would do it where the last movie of Superman is with Darkseid but it won't be the last time we see Superman but rather see him in a Justice League movie finishing off Darkseid with the help of the rest of the heros. This will give enough time to bring on the big screen Wonder Woman, Flash, Martian Manhunter, and a better Green Latern movie.

Definetly do a sequel before focusing on a Worlds Finest or JLA. MOS deserves at least one sequel for further development before introducing him to other heroes. IMO.

BRAINIAC for the sequel.

Then WF

THEN maybe another MOS sequel before JLA

I really think WB should go next with a WORLD's FINEST FILM! JLA seems just too busy right now, I think a WF film would be a wonderful way to introduce a new Batman in this shared universe. It'd be better because this way they don't have the nerves of making a good enough standalone Batman film after Nolan's perfect Batman trilogy. The man of steel will help him on the screen. I really think the dynamic alone of these two greatest superheroes there are would be fantastic to see on the silver screen. A WF film done right can make a shitload of money I'm more than sure.
In the meantime, it would be the right move but not any less riskier to give a shot at standalone films of Wonder Woman and the Flash before the JLA film. Both films will be set in the same universe as MOS and thats a real good thing. They just need to get the right people. Especially bring back Snyder to direct MOS2 or even the WF film with hopefully Nolan producing and Goyer writing. Though, I'd also like to see Goyer write the Wonder Woman film and that he just gets the scenario for MOS2/WF and that someone else who's up to the job finishes it. It's all about the story, should be character driven and smart. Spectacle is no issue, Snyder can handle it.
As for Flash' film, with that also being set in the same world they really need to draw a line of where his powers reach. Should he be able to travel through time? I think yes but make it so that it can be questioned, make it believable in some sense, if you get what I mean. I think he and WonderWoman are the most difficult characters to bring to the big screen, even more because of the solo-films. They'll probably work better in team ethic as in JLA but it wouldn't hurt to get origins of them already.

And as much as I'd like to see Green Lantern to the big screen again, his 2011 movie was really bad and they not only can't afford such a low-quality superhero film again they also meshed their chances of letting the people love him. It's a shame that we'll only see him again in a JLA film of which I hope is AFTER a World'sFinest film and maybe even standalone Wonder Woman and Flash films. Green Lantern is a truly great superhero and I love him and his entire universe a lot. Loved the rumor of a while back that WB would've want Joseph Kosinski to direct the sequel/reboot. I really think he can handle it with the right script. Sure as hell it's going to be gorgeous. Only with Kosinski I wouldn't mind it being shot digitally, with Sony's CineAlta f65 of course ;)

And WB: don't forget to invest further in IMAX, it's pure spectacle.

If they can follow up with a Batman Superman movie, that in itself will create a box office draw the likes that would challenge and in my opinion take the top spots from Avatar and Titanic. If done right of course. MOS has already shown in the TV spots and trailers that DC and Warner Brothers have realized how monetarily rewarding a Super Hero film can be by what has been shown and knowing that a director like Snyder is needed to be able to put these larger than life Heroes on screen.

As for a Justice League movie, if they can translate that onto the Big Screen, I think that movie alone would set the bar so high that studios from there on out will be very carefull on how they proceed and be forced to always bring their A Game.

As DC fans we have a plethora of amazing bad guys that can bring so much depth to a movie. Darkseid with his henchmen and Parademons, Brainiac, The Legion of Doom (that would have to be a project that would need a build up), Doomsday, and it goes on and on. All I know is come June 13th at 7 PM, the start of a whole new DC CBM Era will begin and hopefully show Marvel Die Hards that they have another choice / outlet to go too. :-)

Introduce a shared universe through Wonder Woman. Some crisis forces her to leave the island of the Amazons and venture into "man's world". She is therefore introduced to a new world which may include superman, batman, the flash, green lantern, etc. As the protagonist in a fish-out-of-water story, there is plenty of opportunity to explain to her and the audience the premise of a shared DC universe even without cameos. Also, Wonder Woman rules.
