Respected online film critic Drew McWeeny at HitFix is a fan of Man of Steel. He calls the film powerfully emotional. Actor Henry Cavill echoes those sentiments stating, "The first half-hour, [and] I was in the movie - I know what the script was, I almost cried three times. I was like, 'Man up, man-up, don't be seen crying.' McWeeny continues that unlike other similar films, Man of Steel is "character, defined by action" to which Cavill replies, "Absolutely, and that's the intelligence of this filmmaking. Zack [Snyder] and Damon Caro really, really went to town on building this stuff so that it became something special and meaningful. It wasn't just a brawl, it wasn't just 'Oh, look at this spectacular fight' it means something, everything means something. It wasn't just there for the sake of being there."

But seriously, though, I've been hearing a lot of great stuff from this film, and just having to hear this from Cavill makes me even MORE amped and excited to go and see this flick. And to be honest, I might even catch myself crying some manly tears during that film. ;)

If I wanna cry during a movie, I'd watch Sweet November or Fried Green Tomatoes, not a Superman movie. Gosh, this just has Nolan's pretentious written all over it. Mm mm mm.

What's next? THE FLASH dramatizing how his super speed affects the area around him when he sprints and people start feelin sad from the friction?......

@SageMode - Well, you can't blame them for crying during films like these. You gotta admit, it has it's heart-tugging moments where it'll get you teared up, or even more than that.

To name a few:

Captain America: The First Avenger - During the scene where Steve sacrifices himself to stop the Valkyrie, Steve and Peggy share their last moments together before the plane crashed.

Thor - During the scene where Loki discovers his true heritage, he begins to feel deeply hurt and/or affected by the truth and the fact that Odin had been hiding this from him for years.

Spider-Man 2 - The scene where Peter and Uncle Ben talked during some type of dream sequence; where Peter sadly told Uncle Ben no more of being Spider-Man.

LoL, as much as I hate to bring this up, Spider-Man 3 - When Peter and MJ were at Harry's side during his last moment before passing away.

I'm not saying that you may have teared up during those particular scenes, and neither have I, but I'm sure there were/are countless others who may have. And with Man of Steel soon to be released, I'm sure CBMers and movie-goers will find a scene or two that'll get them teared up and such. I guess we'll soon see. :)

Lol at DC fans bashing marvel just because they finally got it right. I'll take IM3 and a goofy Mandarin over that Green Lantern film any day.

Except that in those movies, they didn't spend the majority of the time trying to make you feel sorry for the character.

Well, obviously all of us aren't the same. We have different likes and interest. Some people want to be entertained and just laugh, and some of us want a serious story. If the filmmakers try to please everybody, then it's going to lead to a really bad problem... Unless they're really good at it. Looking forward to see this movie also. :D

Indeed, dude. But in the end, really, despite our different interests and opinions, we'll come out and be entertained, nonetheless (whether you enjoyed half the film, a third if it, or the whole thing).

Goodbye my son soundtrack already makes me cry like a girl.

@ SageMode - Don't pull an Intruder, Marvel clearly wanted people to cry when Captain America decided that it was a good idea to pilot the plane into the Arctic.
