Enter Public Security Section's Daisuke Aramaki to lead an investigation along with Batou better known to the criminal scourge as "the man with the eye that does not sleep." Great series and movies. I would love to see a movie but know it wouldn't be done right. Maybe though... One can only hope.

After Rurouni Kenshin, I wouldn't mind see a Japanese live-action film although the budget to pull off GITS would be astronomical.

Very cool. But didn't Togusa Join 9th division right before the original Ghost in the Shell?

I love that this ad for the new Ghost in the Shell anime was also one big Windows 8 tablet commercial fricking hilarious.

Also I still can't stand the Major's new look wouldn't be a big problem for me if every other character didn't look exactly how they did in Stand Alone Complex. It is beyond annoying to see this completely different character suppose to be the Major when everyone else is the same.

The problem with the ad is the windows stuff is going to look so dated next year around this time.

Why do these Japanese anime characters always look like White people...then when they get cast as White in a film version, there is a uproar?

@Hyperdink - The Japanese are fascinated with western culture...mainly U.S. culture (music, food, fashion, etc.). It's interesting though how some anime that fans outside Japan adore may last 1 or 2 seasons and then weird, silly, and just plain freaky anime they love over there lasts 10 times longer. There have been a few exclusions here and there, but their taste in favorite anime is bleh to me.

'Prince of Tennis'? REALLY, JAPAN???

I've been a fan of this series since reading the manga years ago. All of the anime is awesome as well! Here's hoping it does well and that a live-action movie finally gets made!

Excerpt from Wikipedia:

As of 2008, DreamWorks has acquired the rights to produce a live-action film adaptation of the original manga with Steven Spielberg. Avi Arad and Steven Paul are confirmed producers; Jamie Moss was originally hired to adapt the manga into a screenplay[16] but in October 2009 it was announced that Laeta Kalogridis had replaced Moss as writer.[17]

Cool animation, but I'm not feeling this new series. The chronology seems to be way off. If ARISE takes place before Section 9 is solidified, Togusa shouldn't even be in the picture. The only members of the crew that even knew the Major were Batou, Ishikawa, and Saito. Aramaki didn't meet her until after her military service was sidetracked due to recruitment. Also, Akamaki definitely didn't know any of them when his hair was still dark. Changing key details of core characters for aesthetic purposes is simply a bad idea. There's no problem with updating a story's over-all style. Just make sure the changes make sense.

@Humperdink

It's simply a style that they use but everyone knows they are Japanese characters. Think of it this way The Simpsons have yellow skin but we know they're white.

Aramaki looks waaaay young.

Love Ghost in the Shell.

@Humperdink
Who looks white? Togusa? Batou? Aramaki? Saito?

@Gost
The shows sort of function in an alternate timeline than the movies. Although one Iva acknowledges that Major has now melded w/ something like 5 AIs and somehow her ghost still controls them all.
