More From David S. Goyer On JUSTICE LEAGUE, Batman And Cyborg?

Man of Steel screenwriter David S. Goyer says Christopher Nolan's Batman exists in a completely separate world, so don't expect to see Christian Bale or Joseph Gordon-Levitt on screen with Henry Cavill's Superman. Plus, a Cyborg Easter Egg?

MTV caught up with The Dark Knight Rises and Man of Steel screenwriter David S. Goyer at the red carpet premiere of Man of Steel and put him to the question about Justice League and Batman. We've heard news that Goyer was writing Justice League but so far, information has all been from second-hand sources. For now, it appears the only thing truly confirmed is that Goyer is returning alongside director Zack Snyder for the Man of Steel sequel. Touching on Justice League, Goyer state, "If I were offered it, I wouldn't say no. Well, what are you going to do after Batman and Superman? How do you top yourself? I can't go back to Metamorpho after this."

When asked about what other Easter Eggs, Goyer stated, "We mentioned SPOILER: [S.T.A.R. Labs] at one point, that's kind of a connection to Cyborg." As many DC Comics readers will note, with the launch of The New 52, long-time Teen Titans member Cyborg circumvented that past association and is now one of the founding members of the Justice League. With talk swirling around a potential Justice League film, is it really just a coincidence that Goyer specifically mentions the character?

And when asked whether Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy could ever mesh with what Zack Snyder created in Man of Steel, Goyer added, "The 'Dark Knight' films do not exist in the same universe. Zack [Snyder] has gone on record. The fact that we have Wayne Industries on the satellite, Bruce Wayne exists in this universe. Lex Luthor exists in this universe. Other metahumans do exist in this universe, so the hope is, depending on how the film does, that we'll be able to roll into some other films."

Yes. No more JL fan-casts with Nolan's Batman in it.

And yeah, I would rather Martian Manhunter than Cyborg. MM has been with the team longer and if we have Cyborg the general audience will say "What? The dude from Teen Titans?".

I don't care if Cyborg does or doesn't end up in Justice League. I want to see Man of Steel first and worry about JL later.

Cyborg sucks! If you're going to have a minority character in JL, then make it either Green Lantern or Manhunter.

Pretty sure GA wouldn't care either way about MM or Cyborg. As long as there's Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman no one else will really matter to non comic book fans.

Martian Manhunter would honestly be more satisfying, plus STAR LABS has connections with other heroes like Atom and The Flash, maybe in this universe Flash's experiment happens in STAR LABS, it'd be cool

Sorry but your plan sort of sucks. No offense but Batman and Superman finding out and reaching out to Themyscria and Atlantis?

I don't think we should have Batman & Superman recruit for JL. We need all of them to come together and a threat big enough for all of them to come together.

It was easy for Avengers due to Shield. Justice League doesn't have a Shield and shouldn't come together due to one or 2 members recruiting.

Just my thoughts :)

Agree Soto. Martian Manhunter could be great. I mean if people could like Black Widow & Hawkeye, Martian Manhunter would own because (no offense Marvel fans) he can do a lot in battle.

Like I think Bats would know Flash & Green Lantern. I have that in my story. I also have Batman hearing rumors about Aquaman due to Aquaman fighting oil rigs and fishermen taking and attacking whales but never locked into it.

I don't see Batman going to Wonder Woman and asking for her help. She needs to leave her own world not have someone talk them into leaving it.

MM should be saved for a sequel.

Too many powerful members. You have Lantern, WW, and Superman. Unless you have a powerful ass villian or buckle down MM powers, he's not needed.

I'm not saying he shouldn't be in the first film, but I think he needs to be less powerful than what he actually is.

Of course you need to lower MM's powers a bit. For example he has super speed. You don't need to give him that when you have Flash.

You just have to condense his powers a bit but not too much.

cyborg isn't worthy of a justice league position.

Its interesting.

Because in an interview with Snyder, he said he put the Wayne Enterprises nod foremost as a tip of a hat to Nolans Batman. Not really to suggest a greater universe although its clearly meant for that as well.

@LEVI, interesting choice, but I chose Lennix because of your last MM observation. I don't really see Cumberbatch as MM though.

Well...as much as I would have loved to see Bale in the Justice League or Worlds Finest, I'm not surprised.

When it does get rebooted, I hope its an original and fresh take on the character.

Oh...and screw Cyborg.

I agree J'onn should be portrayed by a black man (not being racist). I've always though Keith David should voice J'onn. He has such a great voice.

After seeing Into Darkness, I think Cumberbatch would be great. He has the head, size, and voice for J'onn.

I still contend that Atlantis should be the heavy for the first Justice League movie. The visuals alone would be cool. Have that draw in Themiscara (as a sister empire). Supes, Flash, and GL would get involved just due to the sheer enormity of the threat. Wonder Woman seeks out Arthur Curry (the true king of atlantis). Batman stumbles onto Arthur Curry because he notices some of the Atlantian hordes have gone elsewhere (to kill Arthur). And Martian Manhunter (who's been on Earth for a while) comes out of hiding seeing the threat of Atlantis. It all ends with Arthur assuming the throne and the Justice League coming together. Ya want a post credits scene: Arthur's brother is seen talking to someone mentioning that he's failed. That's my idea. No alien invasion, but a terrestrial threat.
