Henry Cavill talks Man of Steel and Justice League with Peter Travers on ABC.

Universal Picture's 2 Guns, starring Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg will have its international premiere as the opener for the Locarno Film Festival in Locarno, Switzerland on August 7th. The film opens August 2nd stateside.

First teaser trailer for the Studio Ghibli Hayao Miyazaki animated film, The Wind Rises (Kaze ga Tachinu). The twittersphere is already gushing about the lush animation.

Terence Stamp reflects on filming Superman II and thinks its the best comic book movie ever as he tells Indiewire.

Stamp: "I got recalled to do the first two Superman movies, that I think are the very best of all those comic book movies. No, I haven't [seen Man of Steel], and I don't know whether I'm curious or not. It was so emotional for me to work with Richard Donner and Chris Reeve - and Brando! I got to work with Marlon. See the director's cut of Superman II, because all of the Brando footage is back in, and he's so funny, he's so charming. I'm sure this modern one is really good and I'm sure it's made for teenagers of the day, but I'd be surprised if it has the kind of humor and the lightness of touch that Marlon and Chris brought to it."

Superman 2 is a great film, but MOS is a lot better in my opinion. And am I the only one who really didn't like stamps performance as Zod? It was below average/mediocre for me.

MOS, Superman: The Movie and Superman II: Richard Donner Cut are all on the same level for me. The rest was just a train wreck.

He basically says nothing definitive about Justice League. Essentially, it would be neat. he gives no news or statements.

I don't know about a JL movie since MOS is not doing so well. I was really looking forward to it, too.

Also, these days, the real money is in the sequels. Usually.

Well MOS has a world tally of almost 400 million in it's second week.

That's better than the entire box office for Batman Begins and that got a second film.

I think it could still happen.

"I exist only to protect Krypton. That is the sole purpose for which I was born and every action I take, no matter how violent or how cruel, is for the greater good of my people... and now I have no people." - General Zod

This quote firmly establishes Zod as nothing more than a programmed object. He was born and bred for this purpose and this purpose alone. He has no depth no pathos or desire or direction that is truly his own. He is an automaton he is a wind up toy soldier. I don't see how he can be considered a good villain or even an actual character with motivations this thin.

Amazing no not only that a Super young man Cavill is I wish his a great run as Superman. I agree about his comments about Justice League & I feel a build up would be nice Batman/Superman World's finest or at least that after Man of Steel 2, then a Wonder Woman film, Flash film, then a Flash/Green Lantern teammate film, Aquaman film & Justice League o the possibilities!

@Nomis If he really wanted to protect his people he wouldn't have bothered with the Coup. He would have packed up as many people as he could that would follow him and colonized a new planet. He acted more like a rabid dog than a protector of his people and their culture.

Terrance Stamp did a good job as Zod in that universe, but his General Zod was a caricature rather than a person. It was two-dimensional and had nothing outside of the movie.

Shannon's Zod was a realistic extrapolation of man bred to a certain role in a advanced (and decaying) society. You can envision what this Zod would do during the time he is not on screen -- he would spend every minute of every day on his job, because that's what he was MADE to do.

As good as Christopher Reeve was, there is no way that Superman II was as good as Man of Steel. Cartoonish villains, idiotic supporting characters, huge plot holes. Dumb moments like Supes giving up his powers forever, just to get them back a few hours later after he boinks Lois and gets beat up in a diner; Finger-Spray telekinesis? "Throwing the 'S'?" How did Supes know how to re-wire the Fortress to take away powers outside the chamber? The whole thing was poorly written.

Shannon's Zod had a better role and back story but Stamp is the better Zod IMO.

Those films are not even in the same league that MOS is in. First the films have aged terribly. Second, Stamps Zod does not look menacing at all, he really looks like flaming queer.

I don't get where folks say that Man of Steel is not doing so well... It's doing just fine given it's uphill battle from the stench of "Returns," which i didn't hate, but didnt love either.. I know a lot of folks who still haven't seen it due to schedule but REALLY want to still & many of MY friends, anyway, whom have seen all three (monsters, WWZ & MoS) have said that MoS is the superior movie experience. i haven't seen WWZ so i can't judge & im taking my daughter to see Monsters tonight. She has seen MoS twice now & loved it more the second time.

Haters gonna hate. This Superman movie is the "batman begins" for this franchise. It IS getting a sequel & it will do gangbusters at the box office.

Bank on it.

Superman has more reason to brood, for sure. Bruce Wayne lost his parents, but Kal El lost his entire planet. Wayne is separated from being a normal guy because he's a billionaire, but Kal El is separated because he's an alien from another planet.

cant wait for the day the Justice League movies comes out.

It has the potential to be the most epic superhero movie ever, much more than Avengers and Man of Steel.

More than likely in just 4 years.

Without Stamp, ZOD would never have been in the latest movie.

They wanted ZOD cause Superman II was amazing.

"I exist only to protect Krypton. That is the sole purpose for which I was born and every action I take, no matter how violent or how cruel, is for the greater good of my people... and now I have no people."

That has got to be the most tragic depiction of Zod I've ever. I actually felt sorry for him.

As a new member to this site i don't understand what the deal is with some criticism of MOS.I am neither a hater of either DC or Marvel but I will tell you this. If i never seen Avengers or MOS before and watched MOS first, I would probally fall asleep watching Avengers. So far the best cbm of the year becouse IM3 was just awful.

Grow the [frick] up bro, the days of Superman being a goody goody are long over. He needs to be a badass and you can't be a badass unless you are [frick]ing up villains.
