On the heels of our previous announcement that last summer's live-action "Rurouni Kenshin" film would be receiving two sequel films current set for release next summer comes fresh details about the film's villain. Actor Tatsuya Fujiwara, who portrayed Light Yagami in "Death Note" and Shuya Nanahara in "Battle Royale" will co-star as the insanely ferocious assassin Shishio Makoto in the sequel. The title of the two sequel films was also revealed, with the first sequel translating to "Rurouni Kenshin: The Great Kyoto Fire Arc" and "Rurouni Kenshin: The End of a Legend Arc." Keishi Ōtomo returns to direct both feature films for Studio Swan. The film will tell the story of the fabled "Kyoto Arc" of the original Nobuhiro Watsuki's original manga. The remaining supporting cast from the first film are expected to return as well.

Ugh, not really happy the director is coming back. I wasn't too impressed with his style and I felt his fight scenes needed to be more fantastical/ superhuman to reflect the manga/anime better. Y'know give it a bit of spectacle much like "Shinobi: Heart Under Blade" did with its "Basilisk" interpretation.

Also, this time out the story needs to be much cleaner with a much more solid plot direction. They tried to tell too much in the first to the point it became muddled. They should have stuck to either the OAV "Trust & Betrayal" story or the first story arc of the manga/anime. Not clumsily weave in and out of both. So, hopefully the writers are better focused.

Lastly, I hope they ditch the fan service by tossing in characters for the sake of having them in there with no development nor point to the overall plot. The first movie was OK but it was below its real potential. A bigger budget this time out may also help this out-do the first.

Fingers crossed they get their shit straight.

Really? I hope this guy fits his role in RK because he was a total miscast as Light Yagami.
