I need to let them make a good 100 episodes or so before I can get into it. Anime is best enjoyed in long runs IMO.

These days I prefer shorter animes, of the 13-26 episode variety. There are, of course, exceptions (like the 70+ episodes of Monster).

Gurren Lagann first had a hard time winning me over. I sat through the first 4 episodes and was telling my friends I didn't like it a lot. Episode 5 actually had me intrigued for the first time and I'd hoped it would continue like this. After episode 6 my friends had to force me not to quit. Episodes 7+ ended up being one of the best anime experiences I've ever had. :D

If there's one setting I can't see in anime anymore it's japanese high school. Then again, I wasn't thrilled about the mechas in TTGL at first, so we'll see... ^^
