Sam Mendes Confirmed For 'BOND 24', Release Date Set For Nov 6, 2015

Sam Mendes is now confirmed for Sony's next James Bond installment. By all accounts, Mendes did a smashing job on "Skyfall" so the sequel should be highly anticipated which could mean a slight release date shift for Marvel's "Ant-Man."

It was a slightly bizarre case of 'He will, then he won't, then he will, now he's unsure.' But director Sam Mendes now appears to be 100% confirmed to direct the follow up to "Skyfall' which is set for release in the US on November 6, 2015.

Daniel Craig is also set to return as the titular hero with a script written by John Logan (Skyfall, Gladiator). The film will be released in the UK on October 23, 2015, roughly two weeks ahead of the American release date. Mendes' "Skyfall" is the highest-grossing James Bond film of all-time, crossing the $1 billion dollar mark worldwide. Said Mendes, "I am very pleased that by giving me the time I need to honour all my theatre commitments, the producers have made it possible for me to direct Bond 24. I very much look forward to taking up the reins again, and to working with Daniel Craig, Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli for a second time."

Interesting enough, Marvel Studios' "Ant-Man" is presently scheduled to open on the same day. Should Marvel move its release date or play hardball with Sony?

And Ant-Man doesn't stand a chance against Bond. Unless Marvel promotes the movie well (heavily expressing the tie to Avengers), Ant-Man will bomb.

Ant-Man will bomb. A Bond in the same month as Ant-Man? Forget just Ant-Man, no other film that month stands a chance.

I would love it if the new 24 series was on during the same time as Agents of Shield. Boy that show would be crushed.

hope they finish the Quantum storyline, maybe use "Never Say Never Again" as this reboot series Thunderball, bring in Blofeld.
LucasMend
LucasMend - 7/11/2013, 9:37 AM
Yeah because Iron Man, a character the general public didn't know, was a bomb in 2008, being released just two months before TDK. Anything Marvel Studios related does some money these days. Even if is not too much like Cap and TIH, is something worthy.

Sony should do a Bond/Spider-Man crossover.

Come on, don't tell me you wouldn't watch that.

wtf, the quantum storyline was finished in quantum of solace, skyfall was a completely stand alone movie

Marvel should move up their release date...but then it might be overshadowed by those stupid horrors movies...Marvel could push it back.

There is a difference between 2 months ahead and THE SAME DAY!!!

It was still a box office war between the 2 movies

Now that I think about it, I'm surprised Sony is going to release it that day. Don't the usual release James Bond movies mid to the end of Nov??

Have Bond on the same day as Ant-Man is like how Hellboy 2 was a week ahead of The Dark Knight. Love Hellboy but he is a character the GA doesn't know well. Once The Dark Knight came out, everyone forgot about Hellboy 2.

Nobody will see Ant-Man if its on the same day as Bond. Bond will [frick]ing destroy Ant-Man. Your coming off a film that made a billion and you think Ant-Man is competition?

Bond will win big. Ant-Man will be like Hellboy 2, while Bond will be like TDK.

Which is so weird because Road to Perdition is one of my all time favorite movies. Mendes is a great director. It was mostly just the script of Skyfall that made me vomit everywhere. So hopefully they get someone else to do it this time.

Ant-Man is [frick]ed, they'll definitely move it, as it has NO CHANCE against Bond. DAMN 2015 will be crazy year for movies, My money will be drained.

@Gusto, that picture is way more interesting than this article, and more specifically Skyfall for that matter. That shit's like Nyquil.

I'm sure Marvel will move the date. If they don't, they either have some serious balls or are completely deluded.

Why do u hate skyfall so much?
AsianVersionOfET
AsianVersionOfET - 7/11/2013, 9:56 AM
@bazinga85, mostly because I knew how good a director Mendes was, so I was pretty excited. Then when I saw it I felt like I had an abortion. Technically it was excellent, the cinematography, the score. But that script.....

@LucasMend

You pretty much contradicted your own point in that sentence, Iron Man 1 was released two months before TDK and it had no competition (as far as I know) so it didn't need to combat any other film for audience attention during its entire run.

If it was released like a week after or on the same day as TDK then it would have struggled. Ant-Man is in my book at least kinda [frick]ed.
