"Fairy Tail" will be relaunched according to creator Hiro Mashima (Rave Master). The anime adaptation of the manga ended in March while the print story continued on with the exploits of Natsu, Gray, Lucy, Erza and the rest of the Fairy Tail Guild. Taking to twitter, Hiro has confirmed that the show is indeed continuing in a sequel series. No word yet on when these new episodes will air or whether the original creative team from A-1 Pictures and Satelight will return but new episodes are definitely on the way. Courtesy of American license distributor Funimation, you can watch the first episode below. We'll have the update on just exactly when the new episodes will become available as soon as the news is released.

Fairy Tail (フェアリーテイル) is a 2006 Japanese manga series created by Hiro Mashima. It has appeared in Weekly Shōnen Magazine for nearly seven years and has spawned a number of video games, an anime series, a film and several OVAs.

Ya no way they would end it where they did right on the last day of the games like that. Understandable why they stopped tho, the show basically caught up to the books since they just finished the games like last month and the rest of the arc last week.

I started watching this show a while ago, but it seemed really kiddie to me and I kinda fell off the wagon. A bunch of my other anime-loving friends keep telling me how awesome it is, so I may just have to get into it again.

@Firgosaurus - Agreed. Gintama is one of the greatest shows ever. Not even just anime, but of anything. I really hope they make more episodes of that.

Aye sir! Like a MAN!

Seriously, though. It was obvious the show was only going on hiatus (for undisclosed amount of time). The show had caught up with the manga. Some breather time was needed and they absolutely could not insert another filler arc where they were at in the anime- even though the last filler arc was actually really good and well crafted (something I can't say very often for fillers). And even after the hiatus started the show wasn't struck off the air. It immediately went to reruns ensuring a continued televised presence and admitting that the show was still worth viewership even when audiences knew there wouldn't be new episodes.

The last episode did say Fairy Tail would continue.

And an OVA episode was released recently with the collected trade. Another OVA episode is already announced for release later this year. So even while the main story anime is on hiatus to give the manga some breathing room, we are still getting some fun anime episodes with the characters.

They abruptly ended Bleach and High school Of The Dead the same way. Except, this show is actually coming back. I sure hope the others didn't go forgotten.
