Let me start off by saying this weeks VS POLL was going to be Dr. Strange VS Dr. Fate but I was unable to find a definitive description of Dr. Fate's powers and abilities anywhere. I will continue to search and hopefully that match up will take place next week. So, this weeks VS match up instead finds two of comic books most famous Hell Spawned heroes squaring off against each other.

In one corner we have the star of two major motion pictures and animation Hellboy, who's true name is Anung Un Rama (the Beast of the Apocalypse). Hellboy was brought to Earth by Nazi occultists while still an infant. For a rundown on his powers and abilities (((CLICK HERE))).

In the other corner with a major movie under his belt and one more in production, we find Ghost Rider (aka) Johnny Blaze. Blaze was tricked into becoming the <> The Ghost Rider by the evil Mephisto. For an in depth rundown of his powers and abilities (((CLICK HERE))).

oh damn, wow. Im a huge fan of both characters. Hellboy and Ghost Rider are two Badasses. Ummmmmm......Id have to say Ghost Rider. Only for the simple fact that the Comics version of Hellboy is not immune to fire, which Ghost Rider can use Hell Fire as a weapon, but at the same time, Hellboy does have a Healing factor though. But if its the Movie version of Hellboy, he has a better chance because he's completely resistant to any form of heat. and Hellboy does have anti-demon weapons he can use against Ghost Rider also. and Ghost Rider has the Penance Stare too. Man.......I dunno. Im gonna have to say a draw for now.

and Ghost Rider can regenerate also.

Lansdowne: Ghost Rider can use the Penance Stare on anyone he wants, not just evil people. As long as they caused harm in their life, the Penance Stare is effective.

Wow I was sure I'd vote draw until I read the descriptions. Ol Ghosty is one of my favorite characters but I never realized how powerful he really is. My vote goes to the Rider. Since any anti-demon weapons Hellboy has are more or less useless and Ghost Rider has an amazing healing ability. Better than Logan's.

Is this a joke? Ghost Rider could have put down World Breaker Hulk if he wanted to. (The reason he didn't was because he only protects the innocent, which he believed the Illuminati were not.)

So what makes Hellboy a challenge? I'll save my vote just to see what the opposing argument is.

When searching did you try using "Doctor" instead of Dr.? Also I would highly recommend you use Phantom Stranger instead of Doc Fate. Would it help if I beg......I'll do that =D

ghost rider wins,his got "godlike" abilities.

he could of beaten the hulk during world war hulk.

ghost rider of the 70s maybe early 80s went into battle with the avengers & got the upper hand on the whole team.

his more powerful now than he was in the past.

thank f*ck hellboy not a dc character because according to the dc fanboys no one from marvel can beat their characters. :D

Pokeysteve: I tried both ways. The most in depth description I could find was" Dr. Fate is a very powerful sorcerer." That wasn't enough. Not when Dr. Stranges description took up two pages.

Has The Phantom Stranger been featured in animation? I know he hasn't appeared in anything live action.

Yes, I think he was in Batman: Brave and the Bold. I think. And if I'm not making that up he was voiced by Kevin Conroy too. Something you could check into if you consider PS instead of the Doc. No biggie.

Ghost Rider has it all over Hellboy power-wise.
According to the linked pages (confirmed by my own understandings of the characters - both of whom I love [when portrayed well]) every power Hellboy has, Ghost Rider has in spades.

This is one reason that Ghost Rider is often limited by his host, in order to make him more vulnerable (his Kryptonite if you will) to enable a worthwhile story that challenges the character.
So at his best Ghost Rider could win easily. Hellboy would of course give him a run for his money, and have a fair chance of winning the day despite the power disadvantage.
I honestly couldn't tell you who I would WANT to win!

I like both of them but yeah after reading about their powers I had to vote Ghost Rider. Oh yeah HawksBlueEyes I enjoy these vs polls you put out. The picture of Hellboy has been flipped, the right hand of doom seems to be on the left.

any chance you could set up a new "tournament" style bracket to decide who would be the greatest of a whole lot of comic characters? maybe take out those who we know are beyond most though (as in SS, supes, galactus, thanos, etc.)
It would be pretty cool to see.
I give ghost rider this one also. He really is a lot more resilient to attack in general than hellboy. hellboy is awesome though, i wouldnt mind seeing him smash ghost rider off his cycle though!

I assume you mean me and that you aren't kidding haha. I wasn't crying. The idea that Batman can beat Spider-man in a fight is ri-freakin-diculous. Batman is not the best DC has to offer. He's not Mr. Unstoppable.

I don't know about the rest of you but I'd love to see more of Batman. I wanna know how far the Bat fascination will go.
