Captain America:The First Avenger Australian Trailer Drops "Heroes Are Made in America"

Check out the subtle changes made to the Captain America trailer for the Australian market.

The new Australian trailer for Marvel and Paramount's much anticipated film Captain America:The First Avenger looks very much like the second trailer released for the film with one small, yet significant alteration. Gone are the words "Heroes are made in America" to be replaced by "When evil rises, a hero will stand." While I miss the words emblazoned across the screen, I can't say this is an unwarranted or surprising move for the overseas markets.

Captain America: The First Avenger will focus on the early days of the Marvel Universe when Steve Rogers volunteers to participate in an experimental program that turns him into the Super Soldier known as Captain America. As Captain America, Rogers joins forces with Bucky Barnes and Peggy Carter to wage war on the evil HYDRA organization, led by the villainous Red Skull.

Well yeah, what if they made a movie of.... Captain Iraq! No one's going to watch it haha even less if it said "Heroes are made in Iraq" XD Think about it, every other country doesn't want America shoved in their face

@Rodimus9 - ...raw nerve? Never left your own town? Oooh, I bet you have a flag! By the way, 'all real heroes come from America'??? You do understand that comic books are not real? Get some sunlight! And a sense of humour. And perspective. (I am writing this in good humour, please don't pop anything)

@Rodimus

Well seeing as it is the 'masses' who will be watching the movie it might be prudent to appeal to them.

And the whole point of Cap is that he is an international hero. He represents America on an international stage. Without that he isn't really anything. He was in a WORLD war. Fought a long side the allied forces of french, british and many other nations. He was even given his powers by a german!!

It's best not to get too parochial about it.

I am American and proud to be, but I can't understand the problem some of you have with the phrase being dropped from the foreign market. It's smart business.

@SuspenseSmith

I get the fact that comic book super heroes are mainly from the US but the main problem I think that tagline will have overseas is that they're refering to a guy who (fictitiously) fought in WWII.

That tagline would come across as a bit insensitive to many people outside of the US - and maybe to quite a few in it.

Interesting. The New York Times Business section has an article today along these lines. Seems the film may not be released in China and in some other places the title will be re named. Otherwise it will be marketed pretty much the same as in the United States

I think marvel72 hit the nail on the head.
The movie is captain america, so some heroes are made in america should be fine anywhere.. If it was on mission impossible 4 trailer, then its not needed.

Also stop bashing Austrailia. On this, our celebration day of our independence you should only bash the British, but if it werent for them we'd be missing alot of good music!!!!

@IronAngel - You can say it till your blue in the face. Many of the people on here just don't get it. It's cool to think America is bad, even if you're American. Most of these clowns have never been anywhere outside the country and have no idea just how bad it is in most places in the world. There are only a handful of countries that come close to the quality of life and rights we have in the States. Everyone hates the guy on top, that's just the way it is. And the ignorant and weak will always have to depend on others to keep them free and remind them of what freedom costs.

MUGWAMP - I agree with what you say, I just want more CAP movies, so I don't blame them for having super smart marketing.

lol By the time the legions of sheeple that get their pathetic little rocks off by shitting on the United States every chance they get realize that they have it all wrong it will be way way too late.

Once your scapegoat is gone, who then will you direct your frustration and anger at? Will the leftist media present you with an alternative? Or just leave your silly asses swinging in the wind?

pintoman - 7/4/2011, 10:48 AM
It's so obvious, not even sure this falls under marketing. Just common sense.

Keeping the line is like saying "any kids in any country other than america can just forget about being a hero".

skidz
skidz - 7/4/2011, 10:50 AM
This isn't surprising. But of all the countries that WILL be upset and do this, Australia? I don't think I've heard of them being upset over ANYTHING on the international stage. Once they see the movie, they might realize that they jumped the gun on their judgement.
SpiderFan35
SpiderFan35 - 7/4/2011, 11:01 AM
Yep had to be done. And there are heroes made in Australia too, what about Crocodile Dundee? And...well they made 3 movies with him so that's pretty good.

Saw this trailer on the big screen before TF3, it was epic.
