IGN caught up with Andy Serkis at Comic Con where he talked a little about
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. During the interview Serkis revealed that he shot all of Gollum's scenes in the first couple of weeks, and that ever since then he has been concentrating as second unit director.
"The first couple of weeks was shooting out all of Gollum's scenes. Then I went straight in to second unit. Perter asked me to get involved and he has know I have wanted to direct for many year because we have obviously spent a lot of time with each other over the decade. I was thrilled to be asked. He said 'Look I want you to take it a run and be bold and make great decisions.' Second unit director on a project that scale is vast, its huge it encompass drama, battle sequences and vistas its really varied."
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey will be released on December 14, 2012.
