The Walking Dead has become wildly popular not only from comic and horror fans but with general audiences as well. To try and capitalize on the popularity AMC is rolling out their first ever after show program. The show will be called
Talking Dead and will be hosted by comedian and comic book enthusiast Chris Hardwick. The show will premiere after the encore of first episode of the highly anticipated return of The Walking Dead on October 16. Joel Stillerman, AMC’s SVP of original programming explained that giving the fans an opportunity to speak their mind is what lead to the decision of producing the show saying,
"Fans of ‘he Walking Dead are incredibly engaged with every aspect of the show. They tweet, blog, and post comments in very large numbers, and we wanted to give them an opportunity to interact with the show in a way that they don’t currently have a kind of live water cooler."

AMC is launching Talking Dead, the network’s first live after show that will discuss AMC’s series, The Walking Dead. The half-hour program, produced by Michael Davies’ Embassy Row and hosted by Chris Hardwick, will premiere on Oct. 16, immediately following the encore presentation of The Walking Dead. on Sunday, October 16. Then beginning on Friday, Nov. 4, the series premieres following The Walking Dead’s encore presentation at 11 PM.
The shows format will be Hardwick talking with fans, actors, producers, and general TV enthusiasts about that weeks episode. Hardwick is excited for the oppertunity to run the show saying,
"As an ENORMOUS fan of both The Walking Dead comic and television show, I pretty much begged for this job. Dissecting the moves of Rick Grimes and the remaining survivors after every episode is something I would be doing with my friends anyway, so the fact that AMC is actually paying to do so is a bonus." Each show will run a half hour long.
