Movie Newz via The Man Of Steel Facebook Page has learned that Fringe actor Michael Cerveris is being considered for the role of Lex Luthor. According to the site his role in Man of Steel would likely just be a cameo if at all, with him being featured as a major villain in the sequel. To add some validity to the story Snyder used Fringe’s Casting Director Michelle Allen on Man of Steel as well as his last film Sucker Punch.

From Movie Newz:

Character actor Michael Cerveris, best known for playing The Observer on the FOX television show ‘Fringe’, can be added to the list of names being considered for the role of Superman’s arch-nemeses Lex Luthor, however, the self-proclaimed “Greatest criminal mind of our time” wont likely appear until the Man of Steel follow-up.

There has been no other news on any other possible casting candidates for the role of Lex Luthor but it looks as if we will see Superman's arch nemesis sometime in this series reboot.

Man Of Steel stars Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Michael Shannon, Antje Traue, Julia Ormond, Russell Crowe, Laurence Fishburne with Christopher Meloni, Harry Lennix, and will be released on June 14, 2013.

@nailbiter111 I know a lot of people are sick of seeing Lex in movies, but he is Superman arch nemesis he needs to appear at some point. Lex from the comics and TAS is great and that Lex needs to appear in a movie. Not the Con man real estate schemer Lex. I think the story line from the TAS where Lexcorp creates Metallo would be great for a movie.

He'd fall inline perfectly with the rest of the miscast actors in this film.

@nuck82 I agree it should be Billy Zane plus he has a voice like Clancy Brown whose portrayal of Lex was the best in my opinion.

What ever long as we can get the Lex Luthor thats old enough to be Supermans grand-dad, always imagined Luthor being the type of guy who's mind and body would be at the absolute peak a human could achieve. So they need to cast some one younger.

If your picking a bald actor the obvious choice should be:

I mean, really? So, they're casting for a sequel to a movie that hasn't been made yet when they don't even know what the status of the rights will be at the time? Okay. ctrl+v

Umm no. Billy Zane please.

And what Dmon said. No one should be surprised that Lex is appearing. It's like doing a series of Batman movies without Joker. You just don't do it.

if we're going for bald, why not Vin Diesel? Jack Nicholson? Stanley Tucci? Michael Chiklis? Jason Statham? Bruce Willis? Hell, lets go the way they went with Laurence Fishburne and cast Samuel L. Jacksonor Ben Kingsley. They're bald too!!

Bald Headed dude from Fringe. Cant exactly say if he is a right fit as he only has a handful of lines in every episode he has been in.

Lex Luthor is not going to be in this film people... and even if he is.. do you REALLY think Snyder would cast an unknown for a huge role in a movie where Russell Crowe is freaking Jor-El, and has Laurence Fishburne, Diane Lane, Kevin Costner, Amy Adams in supporting roles??

Also to follow Kevin Spacey with a no-named nobody doesn't exactly scream of the right move.
Common sense, come on...

His head reminds me of Karl Pilkington's, lol.

Also, Bryan Cranston would've been one amazingly bad-ass Lex Luthor.

@greengo - I 100% agree. Ive always thought Billy Zane would make a PERFECT Lex.
And if they cant get him.... Arnold Vosloo.

But NOT this guy
