@Thedarksider- Said the same thing a couple of days ago here.
This is their pet-project. They both probably grew up on this Tin-Tin thing. It's just a " We have massive money and 'power' now so lets make whatever we want and not really care if anybody else does". Although ,from what I've read here, there are alot of people who know and like this material, but yeah, they together could have made film history!

Saw the film tonight with A LOT of people in the theater ; this film is going to score insane numbers in Europe !
3D was great so was the cinematography, some parts really felt like the first Indy movies, there's also an awesome nod to another Spielberg classic. The characters looked great (excepted on a few shots) and the action was non-stop, a shame it didn't take more time to establish more the characters.

I remember reading somewhere that the 3rd movie would be based on The Blue Lotus and Tintin in Tibet, which I think would be cool and all but I really want to see some of his adventures on the moon!

Also I saw it yesterday afternoon (UK - early previews) and it was amazing. The 1-shot chase through the moroccan city was simply sublime. The intro of Tintin himself is masterful. Only things I didnt like was that the pace was maybe too quick and there was no Prof Calculus! they're saving him for no2 I think, but overall it's well worth seeing (the 3d was nice and subtle as well - not too in-your-face)

bababoozer, this will NOT bomb in the US. It's got great source material, helmed by some of the best storytellers in the world, as well as animated by the same technology as Avatar (which is the highest grossing movie of all time) as well as the same people who made the animated creatures for Lord of the Rings, which was also very successful if I remember correct.

Plus it's getting really good reviews.

@Gusto-Tintin was more popular in Europe. it was writen in the 30's, and it didnt even get translated to English until 1958. i wish it had come over here first, but i think the call makes sense
