DC has posted a variant cover to the upcoming Action Comics #3. The cover, drawn by Gene Ha, showcases Superman's parents Lara and Jor-el. Also on the cover is Superman's pet Krypto. In the past Krypto has always been a dog but in the photo below he looks to be more of a cat. Also Entertainment Weekly has the preview pages to the issue that will give us a look at the last days of Krypton.

Cool. Looks alien
Why the [frick] would an earth dog live on kryptin anyway? lol

How does DC explain the almost identical appearance in anatomy between humans and kryptonians?
I'm still scratching my head over it. Parallel earth? Caveman stumbled upon a teleportation portal?

Why would it have to be different at all? The make-up of Krypton is already vastly similar to Earth except that humans are just a younger species?

It's just highly unlilely that two planets located in totally different galaxies and solar systems would have almost identical organisms evolve from them.

@Supes17: same as the umanoid aliens in the Marvel Universe and Star Trek: they don't or they just give some weird explanation that is mentioned en passant only once so that no one remembers about it.

There goes a character they should forget. And that's no dog, it's feline.

Battle Cat anyone?

@dawnelldo: No! not at all! I just wished that DC and Marvel offered some kind of explanation as to why characters that evolved or were created in different worlds look almost exactly the same. DC should release an issue or a story about how life on krypton began, and tie it to Earth in some way

They're making him more alien. I like it. Always seemed strange that Kryptonians were humans basically, and they had dogs, and cats just like ours. I don;t think so. A Catwolf works for me.

Who said anything about it actually being Krypto? This just a cover right now. Maybe it just a different pet of theirs. Next issue will feature a birdcage with the "s" emblem in the background and everyone will think that's Krypto now.

If it is Krypto, I'm completely okay with how he looks. He looks more like a wolf than a cat to me, and wolves are (I hope this is obvious) closely related to dogs. It just looks like his ears are supposed to be back like he's growling.
