Zack Snyder has stated that his two choices for Superman in his upcoming tale Man Of Steel was narrowed down to Henry Cavill and Joe Manganiello. Cavill ultimately won the part with Snyder saying that he had the qualities that he was looking for in his Superman, but did say that Manganiello was great. Manganiello, while talking with Aint it Cool News, says that the reason he is not Superman is because his schedule with True Blood just simply wouldn't allow it. He also said the popular TV show is the reason he was even considered for Man Of Steel. "Well, I mean, the thing about Superman was it... I mean, I know the right one is out there for me... there wasn’t anything I could do with Superman. There was interest from every single possible angle on that project, and the reason they were interested was because of TRUE BLOOD. From the director, to casting, to the producers involved, it was all because of TRUE BLOOD, that was why I was in the running. And at the end of the day, it was TRUE BLOOD’s schedule that kept me from doing it. There’s just no human way possible I could be in two places at once when I’m contracted to be on TRUE BLOOD," he said. Citing that he was excited to explore why a baby from another planet would choose to fight for another race, and being able to dive into Superman being an alone alien only added to his disappointment that he didn't get the chance to play The Big Blue Boy Scout. He also went on to say that he "knows the comic books really well," and he thinks he would have brought a fresh take on the character to the table.

With Christopher Nolan's Batman series ending this July Warner Brothers is looking to reboot the franchise so that The Dark Knight can be apart of their Justice League. Manganiello was asked if anticipated being brought in for the eventual reboot where he said, "From your mouth to God’s ears, man. I mean of course, I grew up, as a kid, I read comic books, and I watched every single comic book movie that ever... You know, I was a big sci-fi fan, I was just that kid. I’m a fanboy at heart. So, yeah, that is on my radar." He went on to say that he thinks his back round in classical theater plus his dedication to working out has helped him out tremendously in his career to be able to play a super hero.

I like Joe, he is actually one of the few good things on True Blood and is closer to the physicality of Bruce Wayne than any previous actor to date.

I think he would've made a great Superman. If you read the interview he talks more about his and Snyder's approach to the character.

This guy is just desperate to be in a comic book movie it seems. I think the perfect guy to take over the role of Batman would be Alex O'Loughlin from Hawaii Five-O.

There's more to this interview concerning how Joe would approach Clark Kent/Superman and much of it might be influenced from what he already knows about the film.

He'd be a great Batman, probably not so good as Bruce though. I'm a big True Blood fan and he is one of my favorite characters on the show. Trouble is, he is scripted to play the muscle on the show, and apart from growling and snarling, it would seem he's there to just look good without a shirt.

But that is judging by ONE role. Flash is nothing like Alcide Herveaux, and if I had known the two were one in the same, I'd have died (not really, but its the expression).

He could surprise you.

Is it me or does it show how unoriginal Hollywood is? They are talking about a reboot of a franchise that hasn't even released it's "final" film yet. This is getting pretty old, pretty quick. The Hulk was one thing because it was back in Marvel's hands. Spidey, not so much. And sorry...The Batman Reboot is going to be too soon as well.

Maybe they should concentrate on getting it right the first time instead of..."Well, we'll reboot it in a few years".

As much as I like (not love) the Nolan films...It's done a disservice to the DC universe because if he just would have let it be part of a shared universe, we wouldn't have to deal with this reboot nonsense in a few years.

All the comments make me laugh. In the beginning who hated Tobey McGuire, Heath Ledger, Christian Bale, Michael Keaton, Chris Evans, for their respective roles? This guy didn't look a thing like Flash when he started on True Blood! I was shocked it was the same actor.

I think he'd be great in pretty much any of the roles he's talked about and probably a lot more than people know. He plays the bearded, scruffy, muscle because he's an actor and that's what he's paid to do. It's ridiculous to think that's all he can do. Settle down, give the man a chance.

I hate, hate hate HATE that everybody's already planning for the Batman reboot a month before TDKR hits theaters.

That's the problem I have with the Amazing Spider-man. It looks like it could be an amazing movie, but the tacky "let's rush the reboot into production so we have a big profit this year" studio mentality is really tarnishing the film IMHO.

Jon Hamm as Batman. There are so many times I watch Mad Men and just say "Damn, this guy can play Bruce Wayne ". Also if you guys are watching True Blood, Christopher Meloni is on their and I'm sorry but he was completley miscasted in Man of Steel. The guy could clearly own as Les Luthor.
