LEGENDARY PICTURES Is Considering Ending Their Relationship With WARNER BROTHERS

Warner Brothers has looked to Legendary Pictures to help finance some of their biggest movies. Including comic book movies such as Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy and this Summer's Man Of Steel. However, due to tensions between the companies, that partnership could come to an end.

The Wrap is reporting that the partnership between, Warner Brothers and Legendary Pictures is in trouble. The two companies have joined forces on big box office juggernauts such as The Dark Knight, and The Dark Knight Rises, and will do so again on the upcoming Superman film Man Of Steel. Tensions are running high between Legendary CEO Thomas Tull and WB Film Chief Jeff Robinov.

Sources say that Tull is upset because he has been told that Robinov believes that finance companies take too much credit for movies. It is also believed that issues arose when Tull was on stage for Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim presentation at Comic Con. Which is said to have had WB execs fuming. Tull also believes that Robinov has created tensions between him and famed director Christopher Nolan. However, is it worth noting a source close to Robinov denies the riff.

It is said that Tull is already seeking new partners for Legendary. He has taken meetings with rival studios, and has a strong relationship with Disney head Alan Horn. However, numerous studios have a need for Tull's services, and he will be listening to all offers.

So now on to what this means for us and our readers. Like stated above Legendary has partnered with WB on the extremely successful Dark Knight Trilogy. It is also worth noting that WB's failed comic book movie, Green Lantern, was not produced by Legendary, but they are on Man Of Steel. The deal between Legendary and WB ends in December of this year, and given the track record between the two and the CBMs they produce, it would probably be in Warner's best interest to reconcile. Especially if they want to get their Justice League movie up and off the ground for the targeted 2015 release date. The job of reconciliation will be tasked to new CEO Kevin Tsujihara, who was named to the job this past Monday.

I would absolutely love for Legendary to go into patnership with Marvel if Kevin Tsujihara can't clear up the mess between the two sides.

I'd be disappointed that it may affect the Justice League movie of course, but I'd love for Legendary's cash to be getting pumped into Marvel movies that need / require some big financial budgets.

The drama continues... wasn't this in the news back before TDKR came out? Tsujihara certainly has his work cut out for him.

it was said that legendary pictures have a deal of 40 films with joint collaboration with WB ... what ever but I think if there is a tension among the 2 company , view should reconcile as both the company as a team produced a lot of great epic movies ...

For those hoping Legendary works with Disney/Marvel instead, you guys realize the DC rights stay with WB right? Plus Legendary and Marvel is a conflict, both are production companies, no way that's going to happen for the Marvel franchise.

Legendary Pictures do Daredevil, Moon Knight, Punisher, Iron Fist, Luke Cage, Shang Chi.

Marvel Studios keep the Avengers and Cosmic.

I don't know which world some Marvel idiots fans belong!

Like, How Legendary going to Disney will affect DC films??
How??

Only thing Legendary does is provide cash & facilitates the film making for the STUDIO.... which is WB!!

Like THE HOBBIT was a WB (studio) film, with it was made for them by MGM & NewLine!!

If Legendary leaves WB, only thing that will happen is that WB will have to look for another Production company!
& there are MANY, like MGM, NewLine & atleast 5-8 of them are under WB!
Legendary is not the only one!

& BTW, Disney is still behind WB in its BoxOffice sucess, overall!
They have overall several franchises with several films but the Yearly gross for WB over the last decade & more has been most consistent, they are either No.1 or No.2 (other being Paramount) & this year WB are no.2 with Sony at No.1 & Disney at No.3!

So Disney have got lots of huge stuff coming like Star Wars but they always have huge flops like John Carter!
They had Pirates series & they failed with 5 other!

So Legendary going or not doesn't affect the FILM that will be made at ANY STUDIO.
They just provide Money & infrastructure!

This is a tactic to get a better deal when they renegotiate later in the year.

What I would like to see happen if Legendary and WB split:

WB goes to Disney. Negotiates an animation partnership. We finally get a DC vs Marvel animated movie that is smoothly done. Profit.

Question is, how important is Legendary Pics for WB? The way I see it, it is an effective collaboration. And I'd like to see them going on that way.

"Like stated above Legendary has partnered with WB on the extremely successful Dark Knight Trilogy. It is also worth noting that WB's failed comic book movie, Green Lantern, was not produced by Legendary, but they are on Man Of Steel"

Let's see: They were also involved with Superman Returns, Jonah Hex, Watchmen & 300. Beyond comics, we can add things like The Hangover series, Sucker Punch, the two Titans movies, Lady in the Water, 10,000 BC, etc.

So it is a really mixed bag, and the results don't seem to fully depend on Legendary being involved, but in the coproductions companies like Syncopy Films.
