Ryan Reynolds Has Very Little Interest In Doing JUSTICE LEAGUE

While talking about his new movie The Croods, Ryan Reynolds was asked if he would like to reprise his role as Green Lantern in the upcoming Justice League project Warner Brothers is working on, and as of right now, he is not interested.

Warner Brother's attempt to get Justice League off the ground has been some what of a rocky road. With the rumored script troubles, possible creative teams who might be working on it, as well as who will be cast in the roles, a lot just seems to be up in the air at this point. One of the bigger questions has been, will WB bring back Ryan Reynolds as their Green Lantern for the movie. Fans have mixed emotions about Reynolds portrayal of Hal Jordan in the Green Lantern solo movie, but will WB ask him to join the Justice League? Reynolds may not even give them the chance, as he told Empire he has no interest in doing the film at this point in time. Check out the full quote below, where he was asked if he would want to do Justice League.

"I don't know. If you're going to do comic book movies in that vein, you really have to get them right. I believe that Joss Whedon is the guy that just nails it and Christopher Nolan obviously nails it. So if they were gonna do it like that, it would be an interesting thing to do. It's just that, working on Green Lantern, I saw how difficult it is to make that concept palatable, and how confused it all can be when you don't really know exactly where you're going with it or you don't really know how to access that world properly that world comic book fans have been accessing for decades and falling in love with. So at this point I have very little interest in joining that kind of world. But, you know, a great script and a good director can always turn that around."

With this being said, it doesn't look like those who enjoyed Reynolds as Green Lantern will see him with the Ring any time soon. However, since Christopher Nolan was on his list of people that "get" how to make a comic book movie, and since Nolan is rumored to be involved there is always a chance. Disappointed, but not really surprised. I thought he was really good as Hal Jordan, he just needs the proper script/director. I'm sure they'll bring in John Stewart for Justice League.

@Paul if they do that, which Flash do you think they'll have? Will it be the John/Wally banter, or will it be Barry?

I wouldn't mind seeing Hal or John as Green Lantern.

But Flash HAS to be Barry.

I think a JUSTICE LEAGUE movie won't appear for another 8 - 12 years, after DC / Warner has had time to let people's memories fade, and to reboot all their movie franchises. MAN OF STEEL might be end up being good, but it's coming at an odd time, with the DARK KNIGHT wrapped up, and a GREEN LANTERN movie crashed and burned.

i only want him back just becuase the movie already established him. it would be a step closer to the cinimatic universe. the only thing i didnt like about the suit was how they made it in the movie. i liked the concept but it just looked cheap.

It's not hard to make a good comic book movie if you have people that know what they're doing. But if you have people that don't know what they're doing an are just trying I make a buck (Green Lantern) it's going to be horrible.
Later Reynolds, I won't miss you. Bring on the reboot! If done properly A Green Lantern franchise could be phenomenal!

I believe if the circumstances were different, a different director and writers for Green Lantern, Reynolds would've done a decent job as Hal Jordan. However, now, I believe he should not return as Hal Jordan. Get someone else to play Hal, my suggestion is Ryan Gosling. And get that haircut right too!

Eh. I don't really care if he comes back. I want people who will become a role. Reynolds doesn't disappear into roles. Whenever I see him, I always think, "Oh look, Reynolds is acting as himself again."

John Stewart for JL movie. Make that happen.!

It's good to know that he actually knows what a good CBM is, what it takes to make such a thing happen, and that the people behind Green Lantern were pretty much clueless about it. Because it's just true; like him or hate him, there's no denying that the failure of that movie as a CBM is mostly because of the poor treatment, rather than Reynolds himself as Hal Jordan.

As he suggests, if a great director comes with a great concept and script, he would do it, definetly.

Its always up to who is directing the creative team behind the proyect. If some really talented actors and big names start joining the proyect, almost none would say NO to the studio or the director.

Apart from the script and cgi awful!!

The hole of that film i thought, that's Ryan Reynolds making a joke in a green lantern outfit! never believed him as Hal!

JLA!! KEEP Cavill and Bale recast the rest! :)

Good for you Ryan! It wasn't you that ruined Green Lantern. It was the studio, script and director that failed miserably. WB did a hack job with the movie. Period. We all saw it with the issues with the script and effects shown at comic con.

With WB running things, don't hold your breath with a GL reboot. They won't take a second chance.

Don't blame the guy. He poured his heart and soul into both Hal and wade and got screwed royally twice. Reynolds really deserves a proper shot at being the hero he has the chops to play. Here's hoping the real deadpool movie finally gets made

Just because you were born in the 90s and watched Justice League with Stewart as the main GL does not make him the most recognizable GL. People were born before the 90s and some like Pedusto, born in the Mesozoic Era, remeber Super Friends, Super Powers, or actually read comics where Hal or even Alan Scott was GL!

Its ok GL isn't needed right now.
Forget JL and just do Worlds Finest for goodness sake.

@Levi

Hal and Barry have if anything, the opposite relationship John and Wally had in the JL Unlimited cartoons. In those cartoons,John was serious and Wally was the hotheaded guy who didn't seem to take the job seriously. John was always scolding him about being a professional.

In the Geoff Johns stories,Hal was the irresponsible, wiseass(when they first met) and Barry the serious professional.

If you have Barry from the comics and Stewart from JLU, you get two guys who pretty much would look at the job the same way.

No way in hell is John Stewart gonna lecture Barry Allen about being focused on his job.Its just not the character of Barry Allen.

Btw. You keep talking about nobody caring about Hal and base that on the movie's performance while claiming Stewart was all that because he starred in a series that ended almost 8 years ago.

When was the last WB/DC animated series that had Stewart as the main Green Lantern? What direct to DVD video?

The opening weekend for Green Lantern was decent,so it wasn't a question of
people not having an interest in Hal Jordan. It was the fact that the movie was shit
and generated no positive word of mouth to get non CBM fans to give it a shot.

Do you really think that had the same writers, producers and director done a John Stewart Green Lantern film it would have been any better?

Hal Jordan not supposed to be funny? you gotta be kidding me. Hal Jordan makes jokes all the times and he is the one making cartoon constructs with his ring power all the time.

There are different GL but Hal Jordan is far from being the serious guy out of the bunch.
