@ Alfredo27

how is apocalypse more well known than thanos? do you mean by the general public or comic book fans?

comic fans

thanos has been in the comics since the 70s & apocalypse late 80s i believe.

thanos has been in more event story arcs

general audience

got their first glimpse of thanos at the end of the avengers(2012),none of them knew who he was.

got their first glimpse of apocalypse at the end of x-men days of future past,none of them knew who he was.

in the next few months the general audience will get their first proper look at thanos in guardians of the galaxy.

so again who is more well known?

@alfredo because marvel is milking the movies hype and won't promote a character whose film rights belong to fox. it makes sense but it's sad how everything is dictated by the mcu. of course, people here won't admit it.

@rebellion - Or some people actually prefer the universe level threat and cosmic stories that define Thanos, and his intriguing character and internal conflict. People like me who dont care about MCU or Fox but the comic characters that came before any of the films. Apoc is a good villain with some good stories but to me he is nothing compared to Thanos, who's run in the Infinity saga is amazing as was his pre-infinity saga stories such as The Death of Captain Marvel.

Ron Lim has always been awesome and is always forgotten when everyone talks about the great artists. Where has he been?

My most anticipated stuff by Marvel right now is Starlin's return to Thanos. The sad thing is that this Thanos epic ws intended to be a three parter with Thanos Annual, Infinity Revelation, and Infinity Duel (a future clash between Warlock and Thanos), but Marvel canceled the third act like a bum.

I hope that after all is said and done that Marvel lets him finish his planned final chapter. Even if they don't like it after it comes out they can always say it is out of continuity.

@alfredo and rebellion

Sorry Apocalypse is cool and all but he is no Thanos. Thanos is one of the best villains Marvel has ever come up with. He is powerful, complex, and just an overall amazing character. He is the Marvel counterpart to Darkseid for a reason because he is one of the most powerful villains to ever threaten his universe.

See even the amalgam comics knew what was going on it wasn't Darkseid and Apocalypse it was Darkseid and Thanos.

I can't believe there's a Apocalypse vs Thanos argument (I'll admit I've always wanted to see Apocalypse show his face in the cosmic stories and take on Thanos). Be that as it may, there's a good reason why there's no Apocalypse annual (besides the Marvel vs FOX thing). This is gonna be lengthy so grab a beverage and a snack.

Apocalypse is dead. D-E-D. He was last seen attacking the UN and using his blood as a cure for a virus he created (or some such). In his next appearance he was reborn as a child. X Force killed that child (though his clone apparently still exists). Archangel became the new "Apocalypse" but he was killed (sort of). However before he died Archangel conceived twins with one of Apocalypse's horsemen. They were kidnapped by Kang the Conqueror and raised in the future (often sent to the Days of Future's Past timeline as punishment). Now these Apocalypse Twins have come back to the present and murdered a slew of Celestials and framed humanity for it. They tricked Scarlett Witch into teleporting every mutant off planet before it was destroyed. Now they all live on another planet called Planet X. These events are still unfolding in Uncanny Avengers so this will likely be reversed through time travel shenanigans. Whew.

Amalgam...

I loved those comics. Remember who Apocalypse was merged with?

Ra's Al Ghul to make Ra's A-pocalypse, though I don't remember ever seeing him. They merged Batman and Wolverine to make Dark Claw so it kinda made sense...

@beane2099

THANK you for doing that, so that I did not have to type all of that out. Unfortunately, those two were trolling so they probably didn't even stick around long enough to read your post. I'm not sure whether they're fans of Apocalypse or, if like some users on this site, they received all of their knowledge of these characters from movies and tv. If so, that would be sad as they would be missing out on some GREAT Thanos and/or Apocalypse stories. Plus, they'd be missing the feels of THIS: Jim Starlin and Ron Lim, working on Thanos! Ahhhhhhh..................all is right with the universe! Now, all they have to do is BRING IN ADAM WARLOCK!!!!!! [frick] the Magus, bring back Warlock!!!!!
