24: LIVE ANOTHER DAY Actress Joins The Cast Of STAR WARS EPISODE VII

According to Latino-Review, Christina Chong (who was recently named as the lead actress in Sergio Mimica-Gezzan's live-action Halo: Nightfall) has landed a role in J.J. Abrams' Star Wars Episode VII. There's no word on who she will be playing, but as the production is shooting in the UK, it shouldn't really come as too much of a surprise that they're scooping up a few addition British talents.

The site don't have any additional details on who the actress will play, but looking at some of the work she's done in past could indicate that she'll have some action scenes to tackle! We'll be sure to keep you updated, but considering the movie was initially criticised for a lack of women and diversity, they certainly seem to be taking things in the right direction. What do you guys think?

Haha, seeing how much of a sausage fest Star Wars has been, 24 new actresses joining the new trilogy would be one of the best things to ever happen to this franchise.

Cool news though. I never watched 24, but if she's the lead in the new Halo project, she HAS to be a pretty convincing badass. Awesome.

Anyone think its a bit odd that they announced the already large cast, people complained about lack of females, and now have been just adding more and more females to the cast? Were they always planning this or is this simply reactionary?

@Nick56, It's certainly possible. But then again, who cares? Haha just like with the female Thor and Falcon-Cap, if the end result is more competent, talented, important, well-written, diverse characters (female, minorities, etc), I couldn't care less for the reasons behind casting them. I just care that it's finally happening.

Diversity means: We need to have more women and an Asian, so let's kill two birds with one stone in that we have only a half Asian (which is more acceptable than full Asian), but at least it's a female.

The crazy thing is...Hasbro have actually produced the 'blaster hit' Greedo. The POTF2 Commtech Greedo has a blaster scorch under his vest.

I could be wrong, but I believe diversity is an old, old wooden ship used during the Civil War era..

Awesome! EP7 will have a lot of female characters.

That's music to my ears, because the previous Star Wars films could've seriously used more of a female presence.

I remember when they cast all these solid actors in the prequels like Rose Byrne and Claudia Karvan and Keisha Cadyle-Hughes.

They were all in it for like 30 seconds. I can't get excited over casting news yet.
