Robert Downey Jr. Confirms That There Is Still "No Plan" For IRON MAN 4

Despite the fact that Iron Man 3 is Marvel Studios' second highest grossing release of all-time with over $1 billion worldwide, Robert Downey Jr. seems adamant that there won't be a fourth instalment any time soon. And how does he feel about someone else taking over?

Robert Downey Jr.'s current contract with Marvel Studios has him committed to only one more Avengers movie now that Avengers: Age of Ultron has wrapped. Though Marvel continues to find success with recent releases like Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy, nothing has come close to Iron Man 3's box office haul of $1.2 billion worldwide. The fact that we've heard nothing about a fourth movie seems baffling, but in a recent interview with Variety, Downey Jr. confirmed that there are still no plans for another instalment in the franchise. "There isn’t one in the pipe. No, there’s no plan for a fourth ‘Iron Man.'" As for whether he would "let" anyone take over the role, the actor replied: "I like that the idea is that it would be up to me, like I’m casting director for Marvel," before his co-star in The Judge Robert Duvall told him, "Don’t give it to anybody else." Whether he does end up passing the mantle remains to be seen, but you have to imagine that Downey Jr. could pretty much ask for any amount for Iron Man 4 and Marvel would give it to him. For now, we'll have to wait and see. What do you guys think?

I don't need any more Iron Man solo movies. Two disappointing sequels is quite enough for me.

I'll cry myself a river.

This just shows how much pandering Marvel Studios did to the fans w/ the "All Hail The King" one-shot, just to then abandon any possible continuation, making it entirely pointless.

Hopefully he gets killed of in A3.

Yeah, no more Iron man movies. Apart from the first one, they all suck.

Iron Man will most definitely continue in the movies. How remains to be seen. But even with "balls" Marvel would be stupid to give up a billion dollar grossing, and increasing, franchise.

I don't think Iron Man should have gotten any sequels. Story-wise and regarding the MCU universe it didn't need one. Iron Man 1 was awesome. Do you know what MCU movie needs a sequel??

Well if they get a team that's as passionate the ones behind Cap 2 and Guardians for Iron Man 4, then I'd be up for it. I've gotten over the disappointing reveal, but man was I confused at what happened during the twist. We need Jon Favreau back and have Marvel Studios back the f*** off and let Favreau work his magic on Iron Man 4.

If they can come up with a villain that doesn't involve evil businessmen or drone armies, I say go for it.

Shame, I'd love to see Madame Masque or the real Mandarin as the villain.
Marvel needs a big female villain.
