Geoff Johns Comments (Very) Briefly On The Chances Of A GREEN LANTERN Reboot
Rumour has it Green Lantern will appear in both Justice League and his own movie alongside The Flash. We've yet to hear anything more about this, but at a recent Q&A to promote the release of the Forever Evil hardcover, John was quizzed about whether a reboot is in the works...
By rights, 2011's Green Lantern should have kicked off a DC Cinematic Universe the same way that Iron Man did for the Marvel Cinematic Universe back in 2008. Unfortunately, the divisive movie was not a box office success - mainly because the budget spiralled out of control - and we've seen nothing of Hal Jordan since. At a recent Los Angeles Q&A for the release of Forever Evil, Comic Book Resources quote comic book and television writer and DC Comics Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns as saying the following about the possibility of a Green Lantern reboot. "There's always talk of everything," he told one fan at the event, before adding: "I can't talk about anything else."
We may be clutching at straws here, but there's been "talk" of rebooting the franchise? That could be a good sign for fans of the character, and while Warner Bros. and DC Comics likely have a number of movies they're considering, it's nice to know that Green Lantern could be among them. As for what it is about Hal Jordan that so appeals to the writer, Johns added: "Fear is such an anchor on everybody. To explore a superhero that just takes fear and obliterates it, and then is inspired by other people that do it -- for me, that's really interesting, because I have my own fears, and I have my own inhibitions. Sitting up here and talking to a bunch of people is a little scary. But you kind of just have to do it. All of us, the fact that we go out of bed and we go do stuff -- we're overcoming fear to some extent to even go outside the house."
