New Report Reveals That DEADPOOL Will Be PG-13 And NOT R-Rated

It's thought that Fox were struggling to decide whether to make Deadpool a big budget PG-13 blockbuster or a slightly cheaper R-Rated movie, but a new report reveals that director Tim Miller finally got a green light because they've re-purposed the script and it's now...you guessed it...PG-13!

We've all been wondering about why Fox chose now to annunce a release date for Deadpool, and while the overwhelmingly positive response to the leaked test footage undoubtedly played a role in that decision, it appears as if there was a lot going on behind the scenes as well. In the latest edition of the "Meet the Movie Press" podcast, the host revealed the following (at around the 22:00 mark) about some changes which have been made to the project.  "I heard from the director that they finally figured out the script, and it was right before this was announced, that they figured out, and you guys are all gonna hate this, they figured out how to make it PG-13. And therefore "not lose its soul", and that' a quote, of the script so that they can make it."

Is this really the end of the world? The Deadpool comic books sell well every month, and they're not packed full of F-Bombs! As for violence, PG-13 movies seem to get away with plenty, and based on the last couple of X-Men movies, Fox aren't scared of throwing in the odd "f*ck" here and there anyway. It all comes down to story, and as long as Deadpool hasn't lost its "soul", there's no real reason not to still be incredibly excited about the latest comic book movie to be added to an already amazing looking 2016. Or is there? Sound off with your thoughts in the usual place!

They want to sell toys and last time I check toys for R-rated movies don't sell well.

It can be done. I mean, I'd prefer a R rating, of course, but a PG-13 rating COULD work as well. Plus, I don't even trust the source anyway. Also, if Liefield says it's good, I trust it.

This is fine. It's shocking how much they get away with these days in the rating system.
The Dark Knight is a great example of this.

They can and probably will give fans an R-rates version on the DVD so I don't see why people should be pissed.

Devil's advocate, Nail said ok to set publish date in advance so peeps could finish articles, but still keep their place in "who got the story first" line...maybe things have changed...

It'll probably be like The Wolverine where it has an Unrated Blu-Ray/DVD. I'll be fine with that, just gotta support this in theatres first and get the Unrated Blu-Ray after it releases.

Hopefully they will film it R like with the Wolverine and release it on blu-ray with the R copy but theaters it's pg-13

I'm just happy we're getting a Deadpool movie. Obviously I want it to be rated R, but I'm not gonna throw a hissy fit and not see the movie because there won't be as much blood and swearing.

Good. The comic was never rated R (Deadpool Max sucked ballz), and it would be a shame to make DP inaccessible to the next generation. PG13 is fine by me.

Can you drop f bombs in PG13???? I thought there was a limited amount.

In a PG-13 movie you can only say [frick] once. As long as they can stick to that and not show a ton of blood it should be ok. He can still do a lot of damage as long as they don't add a ton of blood spatter and gore to the fighting. It should be okay.
