COMICS: Is No One Safe? Marvel Continue To Tease Plans To Kill Off DEADPOOL

Wolverine is going to be killed off any week now, and Marvel continue to tease us with the possibility that the Merc With The Mouth - who will make the leap to the big screen in 2016 - is also about to meet his maker! It doesn't sound like he has long left either. Hit the jump for details!

The Death of Wolverine has been delayed slightly, but Logan should meet his maker sometime in October. Who's next? Well, it sounds like Deadpool could be! In a recent interview with ComicBook.com, Marvel SVP of Sales & Marketing David Gabriel was asked about the success of these types of stories (Captain America, Spider-Man and the Human Torch have all been killed off and returned in high profile comics over the past few years), and replied: "Speaking of death, we were just talking about the upcoming death of a character in March in issue 250 of a character with the word Dead in his name. Go figure." The site adds that March 2015 will see the release of Deadpool's 250th issue, so he definitely appears to be the likeliest candidate. Of course, the tone of the Merc With The Mouth's series is one of fun, so don't be surprised if the story simply parodies other "Death of..." storylines rather than taking out good old Wade Wilson for good. Either way, you'll know he'll be back in time for his movie! What do you guys think will happen?

Didn't you see Wolverine and The X-Tras: Days of Future Meh? They killed everyone except for ol' Wolviekins. Although they've been murdering the X-Men in film for years.

I'd kinda like to see Deadpool really bite the big one. They kinda flaked out at the last minute (literally) during Way's run. They set it up so Wade, who has always wanted to die, finally could; and then, when he had the opportunity, he suddenly didn't want to? Even when Evil-pool shot Wade in the head on the last page, it's implied he would simply heal himself.

My take: Even if it's a parody of "Death Of" stories, Marvel needs to go whole hog on it and actually kill Deadpool. And then have Hydra Bob fill in until Wade returns. Like the Captain America "Death Of."

Wouldn't be surprised. Seems like Marvel hates their characters right now in comics.

Good. Kill him and keep him dead. Worst comic character.

With regards to the overuse of comic book deaths these days, I believe I speak for most of us when I say, to quote Captain Benjamin Franklin "Hawkeye" Pierce when I demand of Marvel:

LOL @ this. Marvel will do anything for a quick buck. They will no doubt drag this out, the same way they are dragging out Wolvie's death, and get all the money they can from it.

In the meantime, this just shows how petty Marvel is, by "killing off" (I hope no one is dumb enough to think this will be barely beyond temporary; DP and Wolvie will be back by the beginning of next year, just like Steve Rogers will be Cap again, and Thor will be back too), all their characters that belong to other studios.

This is why Marvel gets none of my money.

Wolverine, Deadpool, ignoring the Fantastic Four...this isn't a marketing ploy it's a way to stick it to the companies who own have the rights that Marvel want back.

They don't want to continue to advertise for films they can't make or control.
