Marvel.com have announced that the Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack has been certified Gold after selling more than 500,000 copies. The album was only the second chart-topping soundtrack of 2014 and actually reached #1 on the Billboard 200 during it second and third weeks of release.

As if that wasn't already impressive enough, the album hit the top spot on iTunes in 60 different territories. It probably shouldn't come as too much of a surprise of course as the soundtrack is absolutely fantastic and contains some brilliant songs which easily appeal to people of all ages.

As of right now, Guardians of the Galaxy has earned over $630 million worldwide and currently holds the record of having the biggest August debut of all-time and is also the biggest release ever for that month. Did you guys pick up a copy of the soundtrack? Which song was your favourite?

So glad we knew the soundtrack beforehand. I learned every single song and just sat there silently miming the words in the theatre. But like five of us joined in with Hooked On A Feeling. Nerds are great.

It's a great soundtrack and I isten to a good few of the songs from it almost every day, but that being said I think it's a tad overrated. I skip over a lot of em too.

Well it was an awesome set of songs from the 70's. It introduced new songs to younger generations and basically gave the older generation an awesome mixtape of some of the best songs when they were growing up. I listen to it nearly every morning.

Isn't this just a mixtape? Why is it getting so much praise if it's not even an original score?
