Warner Bros. will kick off their wave of DC Comics movies in 2016 with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but for now, big screen superhero releases are pretty much all dominated Marvel! This year saw the release of four; Captain America: The Winter Soldier, X-Men: Days of Future Past, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and Guardians of the Galaxy. Before we get you guys to weigh in with your thoughts, let's look at how each of the movies did both in terms of the response from critics and financially. Surprisingly, there's not that big of a difference in terms of box office takings!

Captain America: The Winter Soldier - 89% Rotten Tomatoes Score, $714 million worldwide

X-Men: Days of Future Past - 91% Rotten Tomatoes Score, $745 million worldwide

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 - 53% Rotten Tomatoes Score, $708 million worldwide

Guardians of the Galaxy - 92% Rotten Tomatoes Score, $635 million worldwide

Remember, Guardians of the Galaxy has yet to open in China, so there's every chance it could end up finishing in second place behind X-Men: Days of Future Past in terms of box office revenue! There's a very clear difference between the critical reception to three of this year's superhero movies compared to the one from Sony of course, but we know from experience that the opion of the critics doesn't necessarily reflect that of the fans! So, cast your vote in the poll below and then let us know your favourite superhero movie of 2014 in the comments section.
