THE FLASH Producer Andrew Kreisberg Addresses That Shocking Final Scene

The Flash premiered last night, and the final scene is all that anyone can talk about! We won't spoil it for you here, but after the jump you can read comments from producer Andrew Kreisberg about the motivations of a certain character and how time travel will factor into The CW series...

At the end of last night's series premiere of The Flash, we saw Harrison Wells rise out of his wheelchair and look at a newspaper dated 10 years from now which revealed that the Scarlet Speedster had gone missing in an event which sounds an awful lot like Final Crisis. "Time travel is going to play a big part in the overall series, but one of the things that we will discover is that time is mutable," executive producer Andrew Kreisberg told Entertainment Weekly when asked about the twist. However, it also sounds as if it's not something set in stone. "As the good Doctor says, time can be rewritten, so not everything you see on the show is necessarily what’s going to come to pass and not necessarily everything that’s happened is fixed."

Who is Harrison Wells then? There are a lot of theories doing the rounds (Reverse-Flash is a popular one) with Kreisberg teasing: "There’s obviously more than meets the eye when you see Harrison Wells," adding that despite what viewers think his motivations may not be villainous in nature. "I don’t think anyone’s witnessed him tell a lie yet. I think he’s been very truthful about a lot of things. That will be really intriguing to watch. It’s hard to write these very sweet scenes between Tom and Grant, and you watch them on screen and you see the camaraderie and the friendship and the respect, but also knowing that there’s something deeper going on. Sometimes that makes it exciting, sometimes it makes it sad." We're obviously going to have to wait and see for the time being then, and with the recent reveal of the Reverse-Flash - which you can see by clicking here - Wells is definitely one of many candidates when it comes to who's in that suit. Who from the comic books do you guys think this character could be? Be sure to share your thoughts and theories below...

Yup Harrison Wells is Reverse Flash

So I honestly think Wells is from the future. He was a villain of the Flash in the future, and when the Flash disappeared he was able to do his evil business. But he's come back to the past to speed up the process, he wants the Flash to disappear sooner.

Thats what I think.

It's funny, after seeing the premiere of the show you can automatically see how different it is from Arrow. It's not as dark, which is cool. You get to see two ends of the spectrum in the CW universe.

Does anybody know who the guy with the white hair Barry bumped into at Star Labs is? They focused on him for way too long to just be a random extra. I was thinking maybe he wrote The Flash at one point.

It seems like they are going with the Smallville blueprint of their first 3 or 4 seasons, in Smallville it was the kryptonite meteor shower that infected many people and gave them powers, in the Flash it was that power radiation blast creating Meta-humans that the Flash will have to encounter.

in ten years we're probably going to look back at it and say, "wow, that's cheesy as hell." but right now we can say it's pretty good

After watching the ending twice, I thought it was Dr. Fate, of course missing the cool helmet.

Also, did you all catch the word "Crisis" in the headline of the futuristic newspaper? Could this cue in Crisis on Infinite Earths storyline back from 1985 where the Flash dies. One of the best drawn and written DC series ever.

I just watched the pilot on the CW's website. Now I did see the pilot when it leaked online and I read the article where there was suppose to be three minutes added to the pilot. But I didn't see the three minutes that were suppose to be added. Were they just added for when it aired? AT&T Uverse doesn't get the CW where I am so I can't watch it on Tuesdays.

Harrison Wells is J'onn J'onnz incognito/under cover. I don't know- just wanted to speculate someone other than Reverse Flash

Out on a limb here, What if Wells is an older Wally West (the original)... i refuse to believe he's the villain in the shadows, it seems like he's trying to fix the future and help Barry. Ignore the fact of time for a moment, what if he's an older Bart Allen...

My wife and I both speculated that it was Barry and when he vanished in 2024 he actually went back in time....

@TheWolfman...my thoughts exactly. I speculated last night that he could possibly be an adult Bart, who comes back trying to fix the future.
