COMICS: Marvel Tease The End Of The FANTASTIC FOUR And X-MEN

There were some huge teasers dropped at this morning's "Meet Marvel" panel at the NYCC, with a teaser confirming that recent "The End Is Fourever" arc which will apparently disband the team and another featuring Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch with a "No More Mutants" tag...

It's believed that the Fantastic Four comic book is being brought to an end in order to spite Fox and their upcoming reboot of the property. Are the X-Men next for the chopping block as well? Though no further details were revealed, both a teaser confirming that recently leaked "The End Is Fourever" solicitation and another hinting at the end of the X-Men were shown off at the New York Comic-Con today and we have them here for you courtesy of ComicBook.com

Also there were Star Wars variants by Skottie Young and Alex Ross, so here's hoping they're released online soon rather than later! What do you guys think about Marvel potentially bringing an end to the Fantastic Four and X-Men to focus on The Avengers and other characters they hold the movie rights to? Could they find a way to turn mutants into something else? Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch look a lot different there, but this is one we'll have to just wait and see on.

They aren't stupid enough to end any of the X-men books. Their line up features far too many and far too many new ones for them to cancel any of them. Marvel is being childish and stupid but they aren't going to go full retard.

Good business move by Marvel. Better make it work in terms of story or I'll be pissed.

So if fox says "No more mutants" and lets say reveal the mutant gene has been activated inhuman gene offshoots, would that sweep the rights out from under fox allowing them to use their own take on the characters?? Also a way to still have xmen just no mutants, that could be Marvels loophole.

There's nothing childish, stupid, ignorant or even slightly out of the ordinary here. Marvel Studios make movies, some very good movies. Marvel comics publish books about characters who are at other studios. It's a simple matter of cutting out their liabilities at this point. Marvel comics has every right not to advertise for a company that's not earning them as much money as another one is. The X-Men and F4 books are being cancelled for business reasons, and they're justified too. Get over it.

I don't give a shit about the FF because that team sucks ass. But the X-Men are the best team in comics. Canceling their comics is just spitting in the faces of Marvel's long-time consumers that have been supporting Marvel long before the MCU was conceived.

FOX Execs reaction to this news.

As if this will hurt the box office performance of their CBM.

*YAWN* Yeah, how about doing something CONSTRUCTIVE, Marvel? Like convincing your mouse-eared parent to bite the bullet and buy back the rights? 'Cause let me tell you, and I'm only going to quote Capt. Benjamin Franklin 'Hawkeye' Pierce ONCE--when I saw these teasers, first thing that came to mind:

WE WANT SOMETHING ELSE. Do you hear me?? WE WANT SOMETHING ELSE!

It's only now that Fox has decided to get their shit together and start mass producing CBMs like Marvel Studios has. Think it through, man.

The people saying this is a good idea do realize that we essentially will be the only ones hurt right? Marvel never really made any X-men toys and the general public aren't the ones reading the comics to begin with. If anything Marvel is screwing themselves out of money especially if they do it to the X-men.
JatevinM
JatevinM - 10/10/2014, 8:36 AM
Fox bought the rights fair and square and now Marvel is acting like the pissy children we have known them to be for years.
CherryBomb
CherryBomb - 10/10/2014, 8:37 AM
If anything it's the movies that have been helping the comics.
Not the other way around.

This isn't a damage to Fox really, they'll still go on with X-Men and I really don't care. Marvel having X-Men would be a bad idea.
Dmon
Dmon - 10/10/2014, 8:38 AM
I have not paid to watch an X-Men Movie since X2. I pirate and seed all the movies but have not seen the New Wolverine or DoFP movie. The Fox-Men Suck! That is all.

NO MORE MUTANTS......again?
those already happen before and its not the end of X-Men and it wont be this time either.
NovaCorpsFan
NovaCorpsFan - 10/10/2014, 8:40 AM
It's not like Marvel are gonna leave those slots filled previously by X-Men and F4 titles blank, there'll be other comic series. They now know they can make at least two successful team books with Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers and the rest will be solo series and other such things. And yes, @JavetinM, I do realise we'll be the only ones hurt, and I'm not saying it's a good idea, for us fans it's a [frick]ing terrible idea, but from a business stand point it's a good idea.

Also, people need to remember, kids do eventually get into comics after seeing the movies. If they watch an X-Men movie, go to a comic book store and find there are no new X-Men comics, they'll read Avengers or Guardians of the Galaxy or Iron Man, something Marvel know is going to bloody happen.
