“The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies” brings to an epic conclusion the adventures of Bilbo Baggins, Thorin Oakenshield and the Company of Dwarves. Having reclaimed their homeland from the Dragon Smaug, the Company has unwittingly unleashed a deadly force into the world. Enraged, Smaug rains his fiery wrath down upon the defenseless men, women and children of Lake-town. Obsessed above all else with his reclaimed treasure, Thorin sacrifices friendship and honor to hoard it as Bilbo’s frantic attempts to make him see reason drive the Hobbit towards a desperate and dangerous choice. But there are even greater dangers ahead. Unseen by any but the Wizard Gandalf, the great enemy Sauron has sent forth legions of Orcs in a stealth attack upon the Lonely Mountain. As darkness converges on their escalating conflict, the races of Dwarves, Elves and Men must decide – unite or be destroyed. Bilbo finds himself fighting for his life and the lives of his friends in the epic Battle of the Five Armies, as the future of Middle-earth hangs in the balance.

Starring Martin Freeman, Ian McKellen, Richard Armitage, Evangeline Lilly, Lee Pace, Luke Evans, Benedict Cumberbatch, Ken Stott, James Nesbitt, Cate Blanchett, Ian Holm, Hugo Weaving and Orlando Bloom, The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies is set to be released on December 17th.

@ScottMontgomery I would say that the first Hobbit movie is...less worse...than Desolation of Smaug. Haha does that count?

@mendigoblindado Absolutely right. Legolas shouldn't have been anything more than just a brief cameo in Mirkwood.

@SauronsBANE
Haha no I completely agree with you, The Hobbit films don't even hold a candle to any of the Lord of the Rings films. I found An Unexpected Journey to be enjoyable for the most part though, and I could forgive it for all its flaws just because it gave me an excuse to visit middle earth again. But the second one I could barely stomach, I just didn't enjoy it at all.
SauronsBANE
SauronsBANE - 10/12/2014, 7:40 PM
@ScottMontgomery Right on. When I saw An Unexpected Journey in theaters, I could barely contain my fanboy rage though haha. I should've gone with lower expectations, but never had I watched a movie and just completely been let down so much. I gave it a 2nd and even a 3rd watch, with adjusted expectations each time, and the movie STILL doesn't make it for me. There's so many things I just can't get past no matter how hard I try...and somehow I managed to hate Desolation even more haha.

Along with The Amazing Spider-Man 2, both Hobbit movies have been some of the worst experiences in theaters of my entire life. I give it another 5 years or so before it becomes commonly-accepted fact that The Hobbit trilogy is the new Star Wars Prequels for the generation of millenials.
