So, Wolverine is dead! We're not going to go into great detail here about how the issue played out as you'll need to pick up the comic book itself in order to enjoy this superb finale to the Death of Wolverine, but here's how poor old Logan met his maker. After confronting the villainous Dr. Cornelius, Wolverine learns that the scientist who bonded the unbreakable adamantium to his skeleton has spent years dperforming grotesque and painful experiments on people in a bid to turn them into the mindless weapon that James Howlett refused to be when Weapon X captured him.
As Cornelius starts the process to bond Adamantim to these poor people, Wolverine performs one final heroic act and unsheathes his claws to slash the entire depository of the metal, covering himself in the process. In his final moments (after saving the people who were being experimented on rather than himself) Logan stalks after the villain, gives him his just desserts and overlooks the Nevada dessert in his final moments as the sun sets and the Adamantuim hardens.
The whole issue makes for a powerful and moving read, and with no healing factor, this appears to be a very definitive end for Wolverine. Of course, you have to imagine that Marvel will be able to bring him back by having him regain that power somehow and escaping from this tomb...right?! Perhaps not, as how could he ever break out? It's going to be interesting to see how this plays out and whether anyone discovers his body, and we have to recommend picking up Death of Wolverine #4 itself to see how this all played out in context. What do you guys think?
