Is An X-MEN Spin-Off Starring QUICKSILVER On The Way?

X-Men: Days of Future Past second unit director Brian Smrz reveals that it was in fact him who did most of the work on that Quicksilver scene we've all been praising Bryan Singer for and drops some hints about X-Men: Apocalypse and plans for a solo movie starring the speedster...

Much to the surprise of pretty much everyone, Quicksilver ended up stealing the show in X-Men: Days of Future Past earllier this year. The scene in which he speeds into action has been unanimously praised, with some fans wondering how Joss Whedon will top it when we see a different version of the character in 2015's Avengers: Age of Ultron. When Newsarama recently caught up with second unit director Brian Smrz, he revealed that he was the one who actually pit the majority of the sequence together in the "inbetweenquel". "Probably the most memorable part of the film was getting the chance to work closely with almost all of the main cast in various scenes. As far as a particular scene that sticks out the most, I’d say the kitchen sequence with Quicksilver. I ended up doing a lot of that," he revealed before adding, "I did most of it, to be honest. I have a great relationship with Bryan Singer, and he really let me do a lot there. The scenes where they enter, as well as parts where they’re frozen – I did most of it. It’s very time consuming, especially with the phantom camera and the rain. Bryan was there and did some of the key parts, but I did the rest." Smrz will also return for X-Men: Apocalypse.

When asked what we should expect from the sequel, he refused to give too many details away, but did reveal that, "Well, there will be another Quicksilver scene, which I’m looking forward to; that’ll be fun." Talking of Quicksilver, the second unit director was then asked by the site whether he would be interested in directing his own movies and if there are any in the pipeline. "We talked about Quicksilver before, I’d love to do a Quicksilver as a solo film because there’s a lot to enjoy with that character. But I’m not geared just towards superhero movies; for me it’s about great main characters, and finding movies that have that." It's understandable that Fox would at least consider a spin-off featuring the character, but it doesn't sound like a sure thing as of right now. You have to imagine that Marve won't be best pleased anyway! Would  you watch it?

Just get him involved in X-Factor. He doesn't have the material to carry a solo movie on his own.

No, it won't happen, studios are producing movies for the big money, and big money comes from average people, not nerds, and average people doesn't even know who that grey haired guy is, so... normal people won't watch it. And they will acknowledge this and this idea will never be made. Stop.

Isn't it funny how Quicksilver in DOFP was bashed for months and months by nerds because of his costume? Then that fast little sucker ended up stealing the show and made those critics eat it.

there are way better films that could be made. The Quicksilver scene WAS cool, but his characterization was off and his name wasnt even Pietro, but Peter.

I liked him in the movie...but solo.....NO WAY!!!!!! Hes a side hero. Plus with Avengers 2 and The Flash no on tv....we don't need a Quicksilver solo movie. Its pointless.

Ok seriously.... Their going too far with the quicksilver thing now.

Their making it seems like they don't have any ideas, so they use the only thing that was a big highlight in the movie and make more out of him.

Ya I am with the consensus here fun scene terrible idea for a solo movie. I really like Quicksilver as a character and his dynamic with other people in the Marvel universe but he is not strong enough to hold his own movie and he has no villains to work off of.

Pffffffffff

People way overstate the impression Quicksilver made. Probably because it was the first thing in the movie to have real energy after the opening battle sequence.

I say wait and see how the Gambit film plays out. If it does well a Quicksilver film could take place in Genosha alongside his sister and possibly explore relations towards his other sibling Polaris. I would prefer a television show but that's already happening with X-Factor so (IF) that show is really starring an older QS then that's something they'll have to think about for continuity reasons as well. It's not mandatory and we've only been teased his full potential so there's room for more improvement.

I'm not one to complain about plot holes, but that scene actually took me out of it. I kept thinking why didn't the music slow down?

DOFP was such a let down for me. I wasn't surprised I was let down BUT after First Class was a welcomed surprise, DOFP was just BORING. The most anti-climatic movie ever.

Quicksilver puts on his headphones to listen to ‘’time in a bottle’’ on his Walkman while he dispatches the guards in the Pentagon kitchen even though the whole sequence lasts 0.005 second in real-time. Quicksilver might be lightning fast but his 1970s Sony Walkman sure as hell isn't.
